MAJOR JOHN SMITH GRAVES
These two graves lie to the left of the entrance that leads to the Trinity
River on the old John Smith Plantation, near the one time
community of Reynard. The property is now owned by Milton Dailey.
To find them, drive west from Grapeland on FM-227 for 14 and half miles to a
cattleguard. Drive almost to the end of the road to a group of large trees
on the left. Mrs. John H. Wootters submitted the information as Major and
Mrs. Smith are the grandparents of J. S. Wootters, M.D., (b.1870) , Mrs.
Ethel Higginbotham, Mrs. Lucia Painter, Mrs. Frances Denman and L. B.
Wootters.
