ROCKLAND CEMETERY

Located east of the Rockland Cemetery (white) in the Lone Pine Community, 10 miles south of Crockett off SH-19 or five miles north of Lovelady off SH-19.  Turn east off SH-19 onto dirt road with sign 'Rockland'; travel half mile to white burial ground.

This cemetery is behind this fenced area and can be seen by crossing the front cemetery. It has been allowed to be overrun with underbrush and is inaccessible to extending a current survey.

We are grateful to Mrs. Nellie A. Spencer Williams for making possible the 1978 survey. Mrs. Williams, a dedicated teacher and director of several adult education programs, died on Dec. 21st, 1983, and is listed in the Jasper Survey. She was born March 19, 1907, in Houston County. In her survey, she pointed out that the cemetery adjoined the coal mine at the Wootters Community established in the 1900s.

Pioneer workers of the cemetery who were listed included Felex and Phil Fielon and Charley Hall. Even when Mrs. Williams made her survey, all the birth and death dates were not readable, but because she persisted this record is available:
