Rockland East Cemetery -
Lovelady area, Houston Co., TX
This
cemetery is located outside of the fenced in Rockland Cemetery
which is a few miles away from Lovelady. Some books say that this is
possibly an African American cemetery for the area, however, local people say that it is not and the
people buried there are of many races. No one seems to know why
these graves are outside the fence. It possibly started out as a
segregated cemetery and then evolved into a cemetery for different
races.
