MATCHETT BURIAL GROUND
Dr. Tom died not
long after the death of the last baby. He and the children were buried under
a big oak tree where his father, Henry W .Matchett, used to sit and build
oak chairs. The burial site is also near a creek or branch.
The Henry W. Matchett survey is now part of the national forest and the grave markers (rocks or stones) have long since disappeared. Two of Matt's sons, Clarence and A. T. "Bud" Matchett, attempted to locate the burial site sometime around 1970 but were unsuccessful.
