JACOB MASTERS FAMILY GRAVES
The search for this lost burial ground continues.
Commission members believe it to be east of Crockett off SH-21 some six
miles, then north of the highway some three or four miles.
Another thought, which has surfaced since the 1978 publication and with
searches made during fall of 1985, is that the family cemetery was bulldozed
to make right of way for SH-21 which was changed around 1930's. This made
changes in the location of the Rice Log Cabin and for the Rice Cemetery
which is four miles east of Crockett and the Rice holdings were just before
Jacob Masters, the fatherin-law of Joseph Redmond Rice.
The Jacob Masters League, just beyond the Rice Cabin and acreage, still
contains the mystery where the old patriarch placed his loved ones on the
land which he loved.
