FURLOUGH CEMETERY
This one time fairly large graveyard, at least an acre in size fenced with a
wooden fence, is located at Metlin's holdings below the Creek Community off
FM-1280.
It is some 200 yards west of the old Walter Kyle homeplace which burned. A
grass fire also burned the fence as it swept across the cemetery and the
dozen or so grave stones there have disappeared, according to Edison Rikard
who updated his initial report.
Mr. Rikard also stated that four unidentified graves were known to be
located in the backyard of the old Kyle place which became the site of John
Jordan's home.
Jordan was Rikard's wife's grandfather; thus his knowledge of the graves and
the cemetery location.
No longer do any members of the Furlough family live in Houston County, but
in Coolidge. Rikard did advise that Will Furlough of Coolidge is the
grandfather of the husband of Susan Bass.
