EDENS - MADDEN CEMETERY - SAN PEDRO COMMUNITY
Indians attacked and killed several women and children October, 1838. The
slain were buried about 200 yards from the house site. This was the burial
place for John Edens and some relatives and neighbors - later, making about
25 or 30 graves. Evidence today of a few - markers are mostly gone. A Texas Centennial
Marker erected at massacre site 1936. Checked and copied May, 1985, by
Howard and Hazel Moore, members Houston County Historical Commission.
