Located 7 miles N.W. of Crockett on F.M. 229, turn right at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery sign and go 300-400 yards from F.M. 229. The old wooden church still stands. The original wood building was blown away in 1953. It was built back by the men of the community, but a third less in size.  The original church building was constructed in 1903 on 4 acres of land purchased from J.C. Wootters. Graves were already established at this site on markers by 1885 and earlier in unmarked graves. To date, 35 graves remain unmarked. The Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1903 by the Methodist Episcopal Circuit South of Crockett, Texas. Trustees were: J.W. Craiger, A. W. Vince, T. J. Simmons, W. N. Brown, Wm. Burton, E. J. Curry, David Webb and J. T. Murray.  The first and original Wesley Chapel School house was located on the south side of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Cemetery about a quarter mile or 500 yards S-SW on a two-acre tract. The remains of the old brick and concrete cistern still stand.  The annual Homecoming Event is the 2nd Sunday in June at the pavilion near the site of the church building and cemetery.
