I am the great great granddaughter of Samuel Clark Bitner and Elizabeth Eliza (Sanders )Bitner.

Their son Samuel Elkins Bitner, was my Great grandfather, a very good and very respected man. He married my Great Grand Mother Lula Frances (Spillers) Bitner. They moved to East Texas near San Angelo,Tx. They had a farm at Veribest,Texas.

Their daughter, Hattie Belle( Bitner) King, was my Grandmother. Her daughter Lula Mae (King) Emery is my Mother.

I am related to Rebecca Jane (Houston) Spillers through her marriage to Harvey Nelson Spillers. He was killed very young in an in an accident, Their son John Washington Spillers was my great-great-Grandfather on that side of the family. He married my great-great grandmother Amanda Adeline (Sanders) Spillers. There is a great deal of mystery surrounding her. I haven't found her gravesite or John's yet, but I did find her 2nd husband John A. Robinson buried in the Douglass cemetery where Rebecca is buried. They say Amanda was buried next to My great great grandfather, but I don't know where it is this time. John A. Robinson was also first married to a Spillers, Amanda's husbands sister. Her name was Martha E. (Spillers )Robinson. I haven't found her gravesite either. I don't know where she was buried.

Both Amanda and John Robinson lost their spouses early it appears. This is probably why they later married each other because both of them had Spillers children with their Spillers spouses and wanted to keep the family together we feel.

My great grandmother Lula Frances Spillers was the daughter of Amanda (Sanders) Spillers and John W. Spillers. He too was killed young in an accident while working they say. My great grandma Lula Frances (Spillers) married my great grandpa Samuel E. Bitner. Both of their mothers were Sanders women, so I am related to the Sanders family at least twice, but we are not yet sure if they came from the same Sanders family.

We want very much to solve this mystery.

Other Sanders women also married into the Bitner family. My great Grandma who is also a Houston,Lula Frances(Spillers) Bitner was called "The Belle  Of  Eden,Texas". A secret admirer left her some rich bottom land, but she never found out who it was. She didn't take it, but she always wondered who it was from. Also, Lula Frances and Sam Bitner are buried in Mullins cemetery near Veribest and San Angelo,Texas.

My grandma Hattie Belle is buried  in Midland,Texas. She lived to be 87 years old. Grandma could tell such great stories, and all were true, but we still haven't proved yet that we are related to Sam Houston, the general. He claimed us however.
