Freda Viola Langston was born in Crockett,
Houston Co., TX, December 29, 1895. She attended Centenary
College Conservatory in Cleveland, Tennessee, and Sam Houston
State University in Huntsville, TX, where she majored in English
and Music. For a time Freda taught English and related
subjects at a business school in Dallas. She enjoyed
taking courses in English and Rhetoric, and doing some
traveling.
Freda was married to Thomas Edward Callier of
Crockett, and they had one son, Thomas Paige Callier. This
marriage ended in divorce, and in 1935 Freda married James
Lauderdale Simpson of Cambridge, Massachusetts and New York.
"Jim" was with the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City.
He died November 6, 1942, and is buried in New York. Freda
then made her home in Dallas, TX.
Freda's son, Thomas Paige Callier, received
his degree from Texas A&M College. He married Margaret
Jane Smith of Dallas and they made their home in Oklahoma City,
OK, where he was associated with the DuPont Company for many
years before retiring. He and his wife have three
children. Their son, Thomas Paige Callier, Jr. lived in
Oklahoma City and their daughters Nancy C. Belcher and Judith C.
von Collenberg (who has a daughter, Pamela) lived in Ft. Worth,
TX.
