born July 4, 1816 in Dade Co., GA. He married
Julia Smith 1837 in McMinnville,
TN. She was born in 1817 in Cannon Co., TN.
The Robert Hale and Julia Smith family lived
in Dade Co., GA after moving from Tennessee.

1. Drury Hale
born 1841 GA.
2. Peter Hale
born 1843 GA; died in Civil War.
3. John Hale
born 1845 GA; married Mariah Barbee.
4. William T.
'Bill' Hale born May 1, 1848 Rusk Co., TX; died May 11,
1930; married Melissia Dell Smith
b. 1848 Cannon Co., TN. She died 1927. Both buried in the
Jim English Cemetery, Houston Co., TX.
5. Elizabeth Hale
born about 1849 probably Houston Co., TX; died shortly after the
1850 census.
The Robert Hale family located in the eastern
part of Houston County, Texas near the settlement called
Randolph. Randolph was located between the Colthrop and
Bates Ferry Roads about ten miles east of Crockett near the Jim
English place.
Julia Smith Hale died soon after 1850 and
Robert Hale then married
Cornelia Platt Frye.
Cornelia Platt Frye was born in New York on
September 3, 1825.

Frye were:
1. Josephine Hale
born Apr. 12, 1854; died July 22, 1898. She married
John Smith brother to Melissa Smith
that married William T. Hale. Both are buried in the Jim
English Cemetery, Houston Co., TX.
2. Ida Hale
born 1856; died 1936. She married
Calvin LeMay. Both are buried in the Evergreen
Memorial Park in Houston Co., TX.
3. Ernest Burnett
"Bud" Hale born 1859; died 1924. He married
Lillie Webb. He was Sheriff
of Houston County 1899-1904. Both are buried in the
Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.
5. Arthur "Babe"
Hale born 1860. He never married. He died at
the age of 28. He was killed by lightning while hauling
lumber in a thunderstorm.
6. Eugenia Hale
born 1863; died 1893 in Grandbury, TX.. She married
(1) Jim Thompson, Jr. who died
after the birth of a son and is buried in the Thompson Family
Cemetery. Eugenia then married (2)
Sonley Cook from Grandbury, TX.
Robert Hale preempted 285 acres of public
land. On February 20, 1857 George W. Julian and James M.
Daniel under oath had sworn Robert Hale had lived three
consecutive years on the land and was a good character.
When the Civil War began, the men of Houston
County organized "The Crockett Southron", the first regiment of
Hood's Texas Brigade. They were mustered into the
Confederate Service at New Orleans, LA on August 9, 1861.
Edward Currie was the Captain and Drury Hale was one of four
Corporals. Dury Hale was killed at Sharpburg or Antietam,
MD on Sept. 17, 1862.. The Casteel's Roll shows the names
of George, Robert and Peter Hale. Peter Hale was killed in
