Della Augusta "Miss Gussie" Smith Easterly

Della Augusta "Miss Gussie" Smith was born October 6, 1894 to Vandorn and Mary Stuckey Smith.  She died October, 15,1981; buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Houston Co., TX.

She married Earl C. Easterly (born June 16, 1895; died April 5, 1948 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery).

They were the parents of two sons:

1.  Gerald Hayden Easterly b. March 19, 1921.  He married Mary Ellen Potts born February 22, 1926.  This marriage ended in divorce.

2.  Morris E. Easterly born July 21, 1922.  He married Artie Bernice Corbitt.

Miss Gussie taught school for more than fifty years and after her retirement in Texas, she went to Jamaica to continue teaching and spreading the Gospel.  Countless young people have been influenced by this dedicated Methodist and Teacher.
