BIRDIE DENBY
Wife of: Burrel Ross "Son" Denby
Birdie Denby and her husband, Bural Ross "Son" Denby born Nov. 3, 1891, son of Robert "Bob" & Hulda Denby, lived west of Crockett inside the city limits on what is referred to as the Halls Bluff Road. Her house was on the right directly across from the R.R. Foley Home referred to as Cedar Hill. Her house and Birdie are gone now, but her flowers still bloom each spring as a remembrance of the lovely lady that once lived there.
I was told that Birdie grew up in the household of a white medical doctor and his wife and they saw that she was well educated. She could play the organ beautifully and shared her talents by playing for her church and giving music lessons to several generations of children.
Birdie and Son had no children. They are
both buried in the Denby Family Cemetery in Wheeler
