Mr. & Mrs. B. W. Nelson have returned from Dallas where they accompanied their daughter, Lida Nell. She was examined by specialists and will under an operation on Thursday to have her foot straightened, which was caused form infantile paralysis several years ago. (Aug. 12, 1924)

Announcement of the marriage Sunday in Shreveport of Mr. Jack McNath and Miss Mary Ellen Gay has been received by friends here. The bride was born, grew to womanhood in Hopkins County, and graduated from the Sulphur Springs high school two years ago. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. C. B. Gay. The groom lives in Shreveport, and is said to be a splendid young business man. (Aug. 13, 1924)

Uncle Neal Stribling, who has been confined to his home for nearly a year, had the misfortune to fall Friday and hurt his crippled leg, but aside from being very painful, it is not thought to be serious. (Aug. 17, 1924)
E. L. Kellogg, one of the News-Telegram carriers, had the misfortune to have his foot badly cut Friday afternoon by his pony running into the fender of an auto out on Church street as he was making his rounds. He is laid up for a few days and E. L. Ponder is taking his place. (Aug. 18, 1924)

Earl Enix, while cranking a Ford car on the square Saturday afternoon, was knocked down and ran over. His father was in the car, and instead of putting his foot on the brake, had it on the clutch, causing the car to go forward. Young Enix sustained several bad bruises, but no bones were broken. He was taken to Dr. Longino’s office and received medical aid. (Aug. 24, 1924)

Mrs. Oscar Anderson of New Hope community, seven miles southwest of Sulphur Springs, was taken to Greenville this afternoon to undergo an operation for appendicitis. She was in a critical condition and was carried in a Tapp ambulance. (Aug. 29, 1924) Later reported. She was carried to Becton Sanitarium and underwent the operation, and was doing well.
