The cemetery is located in the south part of the county. From I-30, take Highway 19 south, take the first left hand turn, County Road 1106, being a gravel road, then turn at the next right hand turn, the cemetery will be on your left. Look for house trailers on the right, and on the left there will be a metal gate with above written: New Hope Cemetery.

d. 29 OCT 1879, was the first husband of Mary Gertrude Martin, the older sister of John Powers Martin. Pat Regan, a descendant
sent me the following story: "Franklin P. Knight, Sr. was the son of James R. Knight, b. ca Jul 1825 in Tennessee, and d. ~1865.
My grandmother indicates that he died on the way home from the Civil War. Family story is that a man came by the house to tell
them that James had died. The man had some sweet potatoes in his hand. My great grandfather was only maybe 6 or 7 at the time
and family was so impoverished and he was so hungry, that the only thing he could think about was the sweet potatos the man was
carrying, rather than the tragic news."
