Old Tarrant cemetery is located about 4 miles north of Sulphur Springs. From the Sulphur Springs town square go
north on Hwy 19. Right after you pass FM road 1537, on your right, slow down, the next right turn is road leading to
cemetery. It is easy pass this road before you see it. The cemetery sign is on the left side of the road, just across
from where you turn.

leaves a son, C. F. Minty, and three daughters. She was laid to rest in the Old Tarrant cemetery.)
Midgett, Buster - b. 14 Aug. 1898, d. 13 Nov. 1916, s/o W. S. & N. J. Midgett (Obituary - C. E.
"Buster" Midgett, 18 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. W. S. Midgett of old Tarrant, died at the home of his
parents Monday from blood poisoning, caused by sticking a splinter in his hand.) ( S.S. Gazette, Nov. 17, 1916)
McLaughlin, E. J Queen - 1847 - 1920, w/o Thomas J. McLaughlin (Obituary - Queen McLaughlin died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. J. L. Martin, in Gilmer, Monday, where she was visiting. The remains were brought back to Sulphur Springs
and carried to Old Tarrant where interment took place on Tuesday with services being conducted by Rev. A. L. Eaveds of
the Baptist Church of which she had been a member for over fifty years. She is survived by four children. (Hopkins Co.

Simpson, C. P. - b. 10 Feb. 1881, d. 4 Mar. 1938 (Obituary - C.P. Simpson died a month after his wifes death. He had
been slowly going down since his wifes death, until he became bedfast. He lived only a week afterwards. He leaves to
mourn his death, one daughter, Mrs. Adis (sic) Gulledge, three sons, L. S. Steed and Henry Steed of Sulphur Springs, Roy
Steed of California. He is resting beside his wife in the Old Tarrant cemetery.) (Daily News-Telegram, Mar. 6, 1938)
Simpson, Hattie - b. 12 Ap. 1871, d. 5 Feb. 1938 (Obituary - Mrs. C. P. Simpson, age 67, died Feb. 5, 1938, at the
family home near Sulphur Springs. Mrs. Simpson suffered from an illness of about two weeks. She is survived by her
husband, one daughter, Mrs. Otis (sic) Gulledge, and three sons, Lewis, Roy, and Will Steed. Final rites were conducted
at Old Tarrant. (Daily News Telegram)

Walker, W. D. - 1863 - 1934 (Obituary - W. D. Walker, age 71, died Monday morning at his home at Dike of paralysis.
He was a native of Alabama, coming to Texas when a boy. He settled at Itasca, moving to Dike 16 years ago where he has
since lived. Surviving are his wife, four sons, Jim and Earnest, Dike; R. N., Itasca; and Jesse, Sugar Land; and five
daughters, Mrs. L. Wynn, Mrs. Dudley Altom, Mrs. Eula Williamson, Miss Clara Walker, Dike; and Mrs. A. R. Groves,
Sulphur Springs. Funeral services were held at Independence church with burial in the Old Tarrant cemetery. (Hopkins
County Echo., Jly. 20, 1934)
