William M. Crisp

William M. Crisp, early settler and legislator, arrived in Texas on November 5, 1837, and on March 21, 1839, received his conditional certificate for land in Red River County. He was tax assessor of Red River County in 1840 and received an unconditional certificate in Lamar County on August 2, 1841. He served as associate justice of Lamar County in 1841-42 and as representative from Lamar County to the Seventh Congress. Crisp was elected chief justice of Lamar County on February 3, 1845, but resigned in September. In 1850 he was a farmer and stock raiser in Hopkins County.
