TWO NEGROES LYNCHED AT SULPHUR SPRINGS.

Sulphur Springs, Aug 30--King and Joe Richmond, two negroes, were burned by a mob in Buford park here Sunday afternoon following their capture after the killing of Deputy Sheriff N.A. Flippen and the serious wounding of Sheriff J.B. Butler of Hopkins county.

The negroes were caught within a few miles of where the tragedy occured ? miles south of here, in an orchard.

The negroes were arrested by the officers, and while being searched one of the blacks quickly drew a pistol and shot Deputy Flippen down. The ball penetrated the forehead and death was instantaneous. Both blacks then opened fire on Sheriff Butler, shooting him twice and severely beating him over the head with revolvers. The sheriff's skull was fractured.

Immediately after the alarm was sounded posses were organized and the country scoured by officers from Hunt, Fannin and Franklin counties. Excitement ran high.

The two negroes were caught within a few miles of where they killed the deputy and beat up the sheriff. They were brought here at 5 o'clock yesterday evening and taken to Buford's park where a bonfire was made and the two burned.
