POSTMASTER  OF MURCHISON DEAD

DEATH COMES TO W. L. ADAIR WHILE SITTING IN CHAIR AT HIS HOME

Word reached Athens last night that Postmaster W. L. Adair of Murchison had been found dead at the family home by his wife on her return from church at ten o'clock.  Mrs. Adair and children had gone to the Baptist church and Mr. Adair had dressed to go to the Methodist church.  The family left home before he did.  When they returned at 10:00 he was found sitting in the chair, with his head slightly reclined.  It was first thought he had fallen asleep, but when efforts to wake him proved futile, neighbors were called in.   Mr. Adair was in the best of health and his death came as a great shock to the community.   Mr. Adair was 48 years of age; is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters. The three daughters reside in Dallas and reached Mruchison this morning.  (Should be three sons; 2 daughters)   He had been postmaster at Murchison since 1917.  During his term the office was raised to third class and his time had expired.  He was not an applicant for the place again.   Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Murchison by Rev. Wells, the Methodist pastor, assisted by Rev. Williford of the Baptist church.  Mr. Adair was a member of the Methodist church and president of the Board of Stewards.   Deceased was reared in Henderson county and attended the public school at Leagueville.  He was also a graduate of the Huntsville Normal; having attended that institution back in the days when students were appointed.  He received his appointment from T. H. Barron, who was representative from this county at the time.   Note: William Littleton Adair would be my great grandfather.
