Walter Trammell, Dec. 6, 1935

Funeral services for Walter Trammell, long time resident of the Cross Roads section, whose death occurred Friday, were held Saturday afternoon with L. D. Rose in charge.  Mr. Rose is an elder of the Primitive Baptist church of which Mr. Trammell was a member.  Deceased had been in ill health for a number of years and had practically retired at his home in the Rome community.  Interment was in the Rome Cemetery.  Being one of the largest men in the county, it was found neccessary to make a special coffin for the deceased.  The coffins was made by Chuck Boyd.

 

Jimmy Trammell, Sept. 13. 1972

Funeral services for Jimmy Trammell, 27, of Leveland, a native of Athens, are set Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Carroll & Lehr Memory Chapel.  Rev. Jack Allen and Rev. Irvin Mills will officiate.  Burial will be in the Rome Cemetery.  Mr. Trammell died Thursday morning in a Lubbock hospital.  Mr. Trammell had lived the past seven years in Leveland, where he was employed by the Verna Drillling Company.  He attended Athens elementary schools and Cayuga High School.  Survivors include a son, Tony and a daughter Tracy;  his parents Mr.& Mrs. P. J. Trammell of Athens; brothers, Gerald Trammell of Athens, Bobby Trammell of Dallas, Wayne Trammell of Athens, Terry Trammell with the U.S. Marines in Yuma, Ariz., and Danny Trammell with the U.S. Navy of the Navel Air Station in Meridian, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. Patsy Foster of DeKalb, Mrs. Kay Carter of Malakoff, and Miss Lana Trammell of Athens; a paternal grandmother, Mrs. P. F. Trammell of Athens.  Pallbearers will be Earnest Smith, Jack Smith, Jimmy White, Kenneth Starks, Larry Ellison, and Dewayne Carter.

 

Scott Jacob Trammell, Jan. 21, 1983

Services for Scott Jacob Trammell, 19, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Athens with the Revs. James Bond, Phil Greenwalt and Truman Stinson officiating.  Burial will be at Judson Cemetery near Cayuga under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home in Athens.  Mr. Trammell died Thursday in Lakeland Medical Center in Athens from injuries received in a Jan. 2 car accident.  He was born in Henderson County on Oct. 1, 1958, a son of Jerry Glenn Trammell and Angela McMann Waters.  He attended Athens High School and Trinity Valley Junior College.  Survivors include his parents, sister Jennifer Lynne Trammell of Athens; grandmothers, Johnnie Lee Trammell of Athens and Anne Zell McMann of Cayuga; stepfather, Lynn Walters of Athens; stepbrother, Gregg Walters of College Station; stepsister, Susan Fitigerald; and a stepmother, Dian Trammell of Athens.  Pallbearers will be John Hacker, Steve Clifford, Mark Sartain, Gerald Wood, Terry Eason, Dean Jackson, David Simmons and Arnold McCoy

 

Helen Jane Trammell, Oct. 16, 1987

Services for Helen Jane Trammell, 45, of Kerens, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Bazette Baptist Church with the Revs. Frank Upchurch and Harold Scott officiating.  Burial is scheduled to follow in Bazette Cemetery under the direction of Kerens' Paschal Funeral Home.  Mrs. Trammell died Friday in an Athens nursing home following a long illness.  She was born May 23, 1942 in Athens, where she graduated from high school in 1960.  She was a Willow Springs Baptist Church member.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include her husband, Bobby Trammell, Athens; one brother Joe Albritton, Brownsboro; mother, Lucile Albritton, Kerens; and numerous nephews and nieces.

 

Lester F. Trammell, Feb. 22, 1991

Services for Lester (French) Trammell, 69, Malakoff, are schedule for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Burgess officiating.  Burial will be at the Rome Cemetery.  Mr. Trammell died Friday in a Tyler hospital after a long illness.  He was born April 18, 1921 in Henderson County to Levi and Dannie Miller Trammell.  He lived most of his life as a rancher.  Survivors include his wife, Gula Chipley Trammell, Malakoff; a son, Ray Trammell, Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sandra Trammell, Athens, two daughter and sons-in-law, Diane and Ricky Knox, Mount Vernon, and Debra and Wilsey McMahon, Cayuga; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Lonnie Ray Trammell, Port LaVaca; and a sister, Opal Brooks, Marlow, Okla.  Pallbearers are Leon Lewis, Wofford Tarrant, Pat Williams, Billy Carroll, Jimmy Brooks, and Jack Trammell.

 

Carl Lee Trammell, May 3, 1991.

Services for Carl Lee Trammell, 36, Cross Roads, are scheduled to be held at 11 a/m/ Saturday at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Frank Upchurch and Rev. Kelly Carnes officiating.  Burial will be at the Rome Cemetery.  Mr. Trammell died Thursday evening at the East Texas Medical Center-Athens.  He was born Feb. 27, 1953 in Henderson County, the son of Toby and Ruby Trammell.  He was preceded in death by his father in 1983. Survivors include his mother, Ruby Faye Trammell, Cross Roads; a brother and sister-in-law, J. T. and Debbie Trammell, Athens; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Ben Thompson and Brenda and James Logan, all of Cross Roads, Kay and Tommy Asher, Carthage and Nancy and Bubba Jackson of Malakoff.  Pallbearers are Tommy Barnett, Richard Reinman, Johnny Bevel, Gary Trammell, Jack Trammell, Travis Carnes, O. W. Williams and Paul Thompson.

Byron Trammell, April 6, 1993

Memorial graveside services for Byron Trammell, 83, Athens are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Rome Cemetery with Rev. Irvin Mills officiating.  Arrangements are with Foster & Brown Funeral Home.  Mr. Trammell died at the East Texas Medical Center-Athens Wednesday morning after a long illness.  He was born Nov. 17, 1909 in Henderson County, the son of Perry and Jesse Verna Miller Trammell.   He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, P. J., Harold, Grady, Glenn and R. L. Trammell.  Survivors include a son, Eugene Trammell, Sout Pasadena, Calif.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce E. Trammell and Joe Ancil Trammell, both of Athens, and a sister Peggy Lewis of Athens.

Ben C. Krueger, Nov. 17, 1994

Funeral services for Ben C. Krueger, 90, of Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.  Mr. Krueger died at the Advanced Care Center of Athens on Thursday evening.  He was a retired Texas Ranger, having served from 1937-1969.  He was a Lutheran, he was preceded in death by his wife Eula Mae Krueger, on October 7, 1994.  Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Jackie Krueger, Beeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Grace and James A. Randall, Alice; three grandsons, Richard Krueger, Del Rio; Monte Krueger, Beeville, and Kim Krueger Randall, Alice; a grand daughter, Kelly Ann Randall Moreno, Alice; six great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be Texas Rangers.

 

Ola Inez Trammell, May 12, 1995

Funeral services for Mrs. Ola Inez Trammell, 87, of Athens were held today at 11 a.m. at Foster & Brown Funeral Hone Chapel with Rev. Bud Peters officiating.  Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Mrs. Trammell died at the Park Highland Nursing Home Thursday morning.  She was born March 3, 1908 in Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Bertha Cunningham Storey.  Mrs. Trammell was a housewife.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Verda Lee Trammell, on February 23, 1979.  Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and William Roges, Dallas; a son, Bobby J. Trammell, Mart; two granddaughters, Cynthia Ann Boyd and Marsha Harder, both of Dallas; a grandson, Ric Rogers, Tapango, California; a sister Hazel Johnson, Kemp; five great-grandchildren, Jason White, Ashlee Pitcher, Christopher Pitcher, Andrew Trammell Boyd, all of Dallas, and Ryan C. Rogers, Tapango, California.

 

Mattie Opal Trammell, Aug. 19, 1997

Services for Mattie Opal Trammell, 77, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Forrest Sapp officiating.  Burial will be in the Payne Springs Cemetery in Henderson County.  Mrs. Trammell died Tuesday morning at East Texas Medical Center in Athens.  She was born March 6, 1920, in Mississippi to Willie Pierce and Ella Reynolds Bonsal and was a member of the Central Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison, in 1962.  Mrs. Trammell is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-laws, Bobby and Kreta Trammelll of Boyd, David and Melanie Trammelll of Athens and Eddie Trammell of Gatesville; three grandchildren, Matt, Luke and Cody Trammell and sister Lessie Smith of Athens.  Pallbearers will be her nephews, Wilburn Trammell, Ray Hodge Trammell, Elton Trammell, Darrell Trammell, Jerry Bonsal, and Ricky Bonsal.  Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening.

 

Robert Trammell, May 15, 1998

Services for Robert Trammell of Eustace, will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 1998 in the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. Paul McKinney officiating.  Interment will follow in the Payne Springs Cemetery in Payne Springs under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.  Trammell was born Feb. 16, 1912 in Henderson County, Texas to Alonzo and Laura Walker Trammell and died Friday May 15, 1998 in Athens following a long illness.  A former resident of Cross Roads, Trammell lived in Eustace 45 years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eustace, the Athens Masonic Lodge #165 where he was a Knight Templar and the Railroad Union.  Mr. Trammell retired in 1975 after 38 years with Southern Pacific Railroad.  He was preceded in death by brothers Thomas, Walter, Truman, Genie, Madison and English Trammell.  Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Nettie "Ned" Trammell of Eustace; son Wilburn Trammell and wife Bonnie of Longview; grandson, Jimmy Trammell and wife Colleen of Clarksville; granddaughter, Jo Lynn McKnight and husband Randy of Frankston; great-grandson Robert Blake Trammell; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.  Pallbearers will be Bobby Trammell, David Trammell, Elton Trammell, Ray Trammell and Darrell Trammell.

 

Howard D. Trammell, June 7, 1998

Funeral services for Howard (Duke) Trammell, 88, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. M.H. "Bud" Peters and the Rev. Irvin E. Mills officiating.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mr. Trammell died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Hospice Center in Baytown.  He was born November 10, 1909, in Henderson County to Walter B. and Bertie Barr Trammell.  He was a charter member of the Willow Springs Baptist Church and member of the Kiwanis Club.  A former Athens resident, he served in World War II in the United States Army Air Corps.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Mitchell and a daughter Jean Nedra Trammell Free.  Mr. Trammell is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Howard Ann Trammell Treuhardt and Don Treuhardt of Baytown; three grandchildren and their families, Pamela Treuhardt Henderson, her husband Greg Henderson, and their children, Heather and Aaron Henderson, all of Baytown, Tammy Free Turner, her husband Kenny Turner, and their children, Whitney and Shelby Turner, all of Kilgore, and Michael Free, his wife, Kim and their children Matthew and Karley Free all of Henderson; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, R.J. and Joyce Trammell of Cross Roads, Walter Burnell Trammell of Athens, Mildred Trammell of Shady Oaks, Joy Trammell of Athens, and Ruby Trammell of Cross Roads; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Speical friends include W.E. Daniel, Jr., Lacy Roberts, Don Haynie and Luther Marrs.  Pallbearers will be Bobby Boyd, Greg Henderson, Gary Trammell, Steve Trammell, J.T. Trammell, and Jack Trammell.  The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m.

 

Savanna Catherine Smith Trammell, March 16, 1999

Services for Mrs. Savanna Catherine Smith Trammell, 94, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rome Cemetery with the Rev. Irvin Mills officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home.  Mrs. Trammell died March 16, 1999 in Athens.  She was born April 7, 1904, in Ovilla to Will Foriest and Hudie Smith.  Mrs. Trammell was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Robert Trammell, Sr. in 1963; a son, Alton Robert Trammell, Jr. in 1997; an infant son; a brother Barney Smith and a sister Sethel O'Kelly.  She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sally Trammell of Athens; five grandchildren, Gail Tucker of Midvale, Utah, Neil Trammell of Paris, Paul Trammell of California, Doug Trammell of Athens, David Trammell of Arlington and six great-grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers will include Doug Trammell, David Trammell, Neil Trammell, Butch Tucker, Jackie Yow, Travis Yow, and Neil Ward.  The family will receive friends between 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Gula Trammell, Aug. 24, 2000

Services for Gula Trammell, 79, of Mt. Vernon are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Foster & Brown Chapel with the Rev. Bob Davis officiating.  Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens.  Mrs. Trammell died Aug. 24, 2002, in Mr. Vernon.  She was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Athens to Jim and Agnes Burr Chipley.   Mrs. Trammell was a member of Crescent Heights Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by parents and husband, Lester Trammell in 1992.  Survivors include sons and daughters-in-laws, Loyd R. and Doris Trammell of Athens and Steven L. and Sandy Trammell of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Ricky Knox of Mt. Vernon and Debra and Wilsey McMahon of Cayuga; brother and sister-in-law, Glynn and Bonnie Chipley of Athens; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.  Pallbearers will be grandsons, Johnny Knox, Jason Knox, Dusty Trammell, Jared Trammell, Wilsey McMahon, Jr., Wayne McMahon, and Kenneth McMahon.  Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Dave Trammell, November 26, 2000

Services for Dave Trammell, 86, Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel, Athens with the Revs. Richard Palmer and Linda O'Neal officiating.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  Mr. Trammell was born Feb. 23, 1915 in Rome, Texas to Berl and Mary Ione Pierce.  Mr. Trammell graduated from Cross Roads High School and served in the National Guard.  He worked for Ling Temco Vaught.  He married Jewell Matthews Feb. 4, 1939.  Survivors include his wife, Jewell Trammell; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Earline Trammell of Grand Prairie, daughters and sons-in-laws, Shirley and Phillip Hart of Grand Prairie, and Gwen and Charlie McMath of Corpus Christie; also seven grandchildren, Greg Trammell and wife Tami Lynn of Lafayette, La., Chris Hart and wife Melody of Arlington, Stacey Gisburne and husband Chris of Shreveport, La., Jenna Marx and husband Ray of Arlington, Vannessa McMath of Austin, Amber Surguy and husband Neil of Houston, and Robin McMath of Corpus Christie.  He is also survived by four great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.  Pallbearers will be David Trammell, Greg Trammell, Chris Hart, Christ Gisburne, Ray Marx and Neil Surguy.

 

R. J. Trammell, June 27, 2001

Services for R.J. Trammell, 78, of Malakoff are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with the Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating.  Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens.  Mr. Trammell died June 27, 2001, in Athens.  He was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Rome Cummunity to Walter and Bertie Barr Trammell.  Mr. Trammell was precede in death by his parents and great-granddaugher, Olivia Grace Hunt.  Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Barton Trammell of Malakoff; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Keith Wilkinson of LaBelle; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cindy Trammell and Steve Trammell all of Fairfield; brother Walter Burnell Trammell; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Pallbearers will be J.T. Trammell, Bobby Boyd, Kelly Duncan, James Edward Trammell, Leonard Teetz and Osborne Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be Foster Bell and J.W. Allen.  Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

 

Dalton R. "Buddy" Trammell, July 21, 2001

Dalton R. "Buddy' Trammell of Athens was on his way back from Alaska Saturday July 21, 2001, when the Lord called him home.  He had been retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Tyler since 1989.  Buddy was active in his church and the Labor of Love and the East Texas Emmanus Community.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling with Annette and spending time with his family.  He not only displayed the slogan "Real Men Love Jesus" on his truck, he lived it.  Buddy was born March 15, 1934, in Willow Springs Community near Cross Roads to Burl Cook and Mary Ione Pierce Trammell.  He had six brothers and sisters.  His father and mother, along with Olive Bristow of Athens and J.B. Trammell of Tyler preceded him in going to be with the Lord.  He has four surviving brothers and one sister, Elmo Trammell of Charlotte, N.C.; Dave Trammell of Athens; Woodrow Trammell, of Athens; B.C. Trammell of Tyler and his sister Pat Boyd of Athens.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Julia Annette Wilson Trammell of Athens; a daughter Lisa and her husband Michael Turner of Athens and their children, Christina Bumbard of Denton; Heather and husband Samuel Trujillo of Seattle, Washington; Keith Turner of Marlow, Ok; John Baber of Wichita Falls, TX.; his son Glen and wife Pamela, of Mineral Wells and their children, Adam and wife Any Trammell, Leslie Bullington all of Ardmore, Al.  Michelle Hill of Reno, Nevada, Autumn Hill of Mineral Wells; his daughter Mary Ann Trammell of Tyler.  Buddy has seven great-grandchildren, Christian Trujillo, Alexis and Wylie Trammell and Lorren Bullington, Chloe Bumbard, Ashley and Victoria Trujillo.  Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church on Lovers Lane in Athens.  The services will be officiated by the Rev. Lynn Parker.  Interment will be at Rome Cemetery near the Shady Oaks community.  Pallbeares will be Adam Trammell, John Babar, Keith Turner, Samuel Trujillo, Donald Boyd and Kenneth Boyd. 

Olive Viola Bristow, Aug.3, 2002

Services for Olive Viola (Trammell) Bristow, 87, Athens, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel, Athens, with the Rev. Irvin Mills officiating.  Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.  Mrs. Bristow died Aug. 3, 2002 in an Athens Hospital.  She was born March 21, 1913, in Henderson County to the late Burl and Mary Pierce Trammell.  She was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Bristow on Nov. 15, 1990; brother, J.B. Trammell, and sister, Eula Mae Krueger.  Survivors include son, Hollis Bristow, Athens; brothers, Woodrow Trammell, Dave Trammell, and Dalton "Buddy" Trammell all of Athens, B.C. Trammell, Tyler and Elmo Trammell, Charleston, S.C.; sister Pat Boyd, Athens; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers are Elton Boyd, Norman Black, Jack Trammell, Keith Hodges, Wilbert Hodges, adn John Hodges.  Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
