Mrs. Swanson Dies Thursday; Funeral Friday
Mrs. Mary L. Swanson, 53, died Thursday night at 7:30 o'clock at
her home on route 5, Athens, After an illness of several years.
Surviving are one son, Robert Tucker, stationed at Houston with
the Army;
Two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Sparkman of Corsicana and Mrs. Lola
Ferguson of
Athens; and two brothers, Jim Ferguson of Dallas and Charlie
Ferguson of
Weatherford.
Funeal services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
home of
a niece, 848 North Prairieville Street, with Bro. James C.
Meredith
officiating. Burial was in the Malakoff Cemetery.
The Carroll and Lehr Home was in charge of arrangements.

Former Resident of County Dies At Waco Wednesday
Mrs. Annie Murphy of Waco, a former resident of this county, died
at her
home in Waco Wednesday afternoon, according to a message received
by
her friends here. Burial was held in that city Thursday.
She is survived by two son, Dr. Paul Murphey of Waco and Hubbard
Murphey of the valley, and by one daughter, Mrs. Will Torrance of
Waco.
Deceased was reared in this county in the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John Reynolds, being a niece of that couple. She married Mr.
Murphy at New York. Her maiden name was Miss Annie Coleman,
and she was related to the Colemans of this county.
Mrs. Murphey had visited frequently in the county during the
past two years, being a guest in the home of Mrs. W. L. Reynolds.
B. C. Hall, who was a boyhood schoolmate of the deceased, paid a
high tribute to her, stating she was one of the finest women it
had
been his pleasure to know.

Brother of C. C. Adrian Dies At Grand Saline
Grand Saline, Oct. 7--Funeral services for A. F. Adrian, 62,
Grand
Saline businessman, wer held at his home here at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial was in the Prairie Springs cemetery, near Ben Wheeler.
He was a brother of C. C. Adrian of Athens.
Mr. Adrian died suddenly Monday morning shortly after opening
his store. He was for many years a city alderman, serving in
the capacity of city secretary. He was a member of the Masonic
lodge.

Fred Ayres, 78, Dies Suddenly At LaRue
Fred Ayres, 78, justice of the peace for many years at LaRue, and
a
resident of this county of more than half a century, died
suddenly
Thursday afternoon. Justice Ayres is reported to have dropped
dead
shortly after he had returned to his home after returing from
funeral
services held for Mrs. Tom Williford in mid-afternoon.
Justice Ayres had held office for many years and had served
during
the past year as president of the Henderson County Pension Club.
He previously had engaged in business. He is survived by a number
of step-children.

Funeral services for Justice of the Peace Fred Ayres, who dropped
dead at LaRue Thiursday night, were scheduled to be held at the
Methodist church at LaRue at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon by Rev.
J. R. Lockhart. Burial will be at LaRue cemetery.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Birdie Gaines of Wichita Falls,
and
several nieces and nephews.
