Funeral Services Held For Baby Girl of Murchison People
Funeral services were held last week for the eight-day-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Huddle Sessions of Murchison. The little
girl had been named Ruth Ann.
The last rites were held at the home of the parents under the
direction of Reverend Lockhart of the Brownsboro Methodist
Church. Interment followed in the Black Jack cemetery.
The infant is survived by her father and mother, one brother, and
one sister, all of Murchison.

George J. Dennis Is Fatally Stricken In Athens Saturday P.M.
Funeral services were held at 2 oclock Sunday afternoon at
Cottonwood Cemetery for George Joshua Dennis, 72, of Athens, who
died suddenly while in the Athens business district Saturday
afternoon. A heart attack which occurred about 3:30 Saturday was
blamed for the death of the prominent Henderson County farmer.
The Deceased was born and reared in Henderson County and he and
his wife, who survive him, have reared a large, highly respected
family here.
Besides his wife, Mrs. George J. Dennis, the deceased is survived
by three sons, J. R. Dennis, Archie A. Dennis and H. C. Dennis,
all of Athens; five daughters, Mrs. Lillie Gregg, Mrs. C. M.
Gregg, and Miss Ruby Dennis, all of Athens, and Mrs. J. B.
McCain, Dallas, and Mrs. Claud Ryan, Gap Mills, West Virginia;
two sisters, Mrs. Nat Brannon, Bowie, Texas, and Mrs. Tom
Freshour of Alvin, Texas.
With the passing of Mr. Dennis, Henderson County lost one of its
best-known farm figures.
Burks-Walker-Daniel Funeral Home of Tyler handled all
arrangements.

J. B. (Jack) Morrow dies at Quanah, Texas, Funeral There Friday
News of the death at Quanah, Texas, of J. B. (Jack) Morrow, uncle
of Carroll Morrow, of near Athens, and a brother of the late
Irvin Morrow of the Pine Grove community, was received here on
Friday morning. Funeral services were scheduled to be held Friday
afternoon at Quanah. Deceased was 89 but despite his advanced age
had made several visits to Athens during the past ten years. He
was a widower and made his home with his daughter.
Mr. Morrow comes from a family noted for its longevity. Surviving
are three brothers and one sister whose average age is 78. There
are; R. R. Morrow, Palestine, 80, Rev. J. M. P. Morrow,
Jacksonville, 77, Mrs. Bob Brown, Brushy Creek, 76, and J. P.
Morrow, Amarillo, 72. All are natives of Anderson county.

Kemp Man Dies While On Way Hospital Here
W. E. Kennedy of route 3, Kemp, died suddenly of a heart attack
Monday at 12:30 oclock while he was being brought to an
Athens hospital. Ill for some time he was stricken just as the
automobile in which he was riding entered the city limits of
Athens on West Corsicana street.
The body will be returned to Kemp by the Athens Funeral Home and
funeral arrangements and interment will be made at that town.
E. E. Kennedy, a son, was with Mr. Kennedy at the time of his
death. The only survivor known here is his wife.
Mr. Kennedy was born in 1875 and had resided at Kemp all of his
life.

Mrs. Howard Dies Thursday At Home Here
Mrs. W. W. Howard, resident of Athens for the past thirty-eight
years, died at her home, 212 Dean street, Thursday morning at
5:10 oclock.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3 oclock at
the First Methodist Church, with Dr. W. G. Fletcher, pastor,
officiating.
The body remained at the funeral home chapel until Friday
afternoon at 1:30 oclock, when it was moved to the church.
Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chester Calhoun, Rudolph Callaway, Roy J. Howard
Jr., E. W. Howard, Wallace Tanner and C. C. Adrian.
Mrs. Howard was born on January 13, 1864, in Mississippi. She
assisted Mr. Howard in the management of the county farm for a
number of years.
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. J. W. Callaway,
Mrs. Alice Thomas, Mrs. Oscar Oliver and Mrs. Merle Stegall, all
of Athens; two sons, Carl Howard of Houston and Roy Howard of
Port Neches; on brother J. W. Wilson of Palestine, and a number
of grandchildren.
Two of her grand-sons are now in the service of the United States
Marines. Phil Thomas is stationed in San Diego, California, and
Dudley J. Oliver is somewhere overseas.
