Maggie Gregory dies; services Friday in Trinidad
Mrs. Maggie G. Gregory, 60, of Athens died Wednesday evening in a
Tyler hospital following a sudden illness. Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Friday
at the First Baptist Church of Trinidad with the Rev. J. R.
Pruett officiating. Burial was in the Trinidad City Cemetery
under the direction of Foster
and Brown Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gregory was born in Henderson County on June 15, 1916 and
had been an Athens area resident her entire life. She was
employed by the Athens
Canning Co. at the time of her death. She was a member of the
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Johnie Gregory of Athens; one
son, Ernest Ed Green of Athens; one daughter, Mrs. Nannie Bee
Rogers of Grand Prairie;
one brother, Tom Garner of Longview, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs.
Nellie Cook of Forney and Mrs. Mary Lou Hilscher of Houston; two
half-sisters; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Adrian Stokes, Richard Nichol, Robert McLain,
Tommy Sakazar, Tony Alotto and Marion McCoy.
Note: Johnie and Maggie had one son Johnny Frank Gregory born Mar
11, 1946 in Athens and died July 9, 1946 in Dallas, TX and is
buried in a unmarkerd grave in the Athens City Cemetery.
Maggie Garner Gregory was my aunt. (LGR)
Census shows Father's name Clem Garner and Mother's name Katie
Garner.
