Mrs. Myrtie Ann Reid

Funeral Rites for Mrs. Reid Held On Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtie Ann Reid, route 2, Ben Wheeler who died in a Jacksonville hospital Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Martins Mill Baptist Church.
The services were conducted by the Rev. James McRae and Rev. Langford, with interment in the Holly Springs Cemetery.
The Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home of Athens was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reid was born on September 1,1895, at Martins Mill the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Eaton, and was a life long resident of Van Zandt County. She was married to R. H. Reid at Martins Mill on September 9,1917.
She taught school at the Cream Level and Oaklnad schools for a number of years, part of the time while Mr. Reid served in the armed forces of World War 1. She was a school teacher at the time of her marriage.
She became a member of the Baptist church when she was thirteen years of age, and was active in church work and in the W. M. U.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Mac Vinson Reid and Jack Henson Reid; three daughters, Miss Lillie Vay Reid, Miss Velette Reid and Mrs. Betty Lou Reid, all of Martins Mill; three sisters, Mrs. Maud Mann of Van and Mrs. Ruby Bailey and Mrs. Nancy Lohr, both of Martins Mill, and one brother A. L. Eaton of Athens.

Mrs. Stirman Dies; Funeral On Saturday
Mrs. Anna Stirman, one of Athens most loveable characters whose outlook on life was that everything happened for the best, died Friday morning at 4:15 o'clock at her home, 400 West Scott after a lengthy illness. She had been seriously ill for the past few days.
A native of Henderson County, she was born on April 7,1871 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Morton, and was married to Millard Stirman in Henderson County in 1888. Mr. Stirman who operated a gin and other business interests died in 1930, and was buried in the City Cemetery.
Mrs. Stirman resident of Athens for 47 years, was a member of the First Christian Church and was active in church work.
Surviving are two sons, Newbern Stirman and Shug Stirman, Athens; one daughter, Mrs. O. B. McPherson, Cleburne and three grandchildren, Dr. J. A. Stirman of New Orleaons, Miss Carol Stirman of Athens and Miss Betty McPherson of Cleburne.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Carroll and Lehr Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Nichols paster of the First Christian Church officated. Burial was in the City Cemetery.
The body remained at the residence until shortly before the hour of the service.

Funeral Services For James Thomas, 81 Held Saturday
Word has been received that funeral services were held Saturday for James Thomas, 81 with interment at Rome community. Rev. William Everheart, of the First Presbyterian Church officiated.
Thomas, who died Friday at 7:30 a.m. in a Rusk hospital, had been a resident of Athens for fourteen years. He was born August 1, 1868, near Bethel in Anderson County.
Thomas is survived by his wife. Mrs. Audrey Thomas; three half-nephews, Bill Fuller, Rome; Andy Fuller, Rome; Johnny Fuller, Paducah; and half-niece, Regina Burden, Kerns, and one living grand-daughter.
The family has expressed their gratitude to the many friends who extended their sympathy.

Rites Slated For James Frazier, 98 Cottonwood Pioneer
James Frazier, 98, died at his home in the Cottonwood community Tuesday after a long illness.
Mr. Frazier was a pioneer of the Cottonwood Community settling there in 1877. He lived in this community for the remainder of his life.
He was a member of the Eustace Methodist Church, and at the time of his death, was a retired farmer.
He is survived by five sone, G. E. of Cottonwood, H. D. of Athens, Homer of Houston, J. A. of Lubbock, and Edgar of Pollock, La.; five daughters, Mrs. C. N. Ballard of Gouldbusk, Mrs. A. G. Graham of Cottonwood, Mrs. L.D. Dillard of Altoonie, Alabama, Mrs. L. D. Graham of Cleveland, Mrs. Bell Tyler of Mesquite, and a number of grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
The Hassell-Foster Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services For Mr. Stewart Held Saturday
Funeral services for Walter O. Stewart, who died at his home in the Cottonwood community Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, were held at the Cottonwood Cemetery Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Bro. Will Williford officating
Interment was in the Cottonwood Cemetery. The Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stewart was born on February 7,1873, in Erath County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grard Stewart. He lived with his family until 1918, when he moved to Eustace. He was married in that town on December 1, 1918, to the former Miss Elizabeth Caroline Greer, and had resided in and around Eustace for the last twenty-nine years.
He was a retired farmer.
Survving are his wife; six daughters, Mrs. J. B. Graham of Dallas, Mrs. H. D. Frazier and Mrs. J. H. Myers of Eustace, Mrs. C. P. Hendley of Waxahacie, Mrs. H. D. Smith of Alemeda, California; three brothers, Ellis and Archie Stewart of Tulia, and Hugo Stewart of Plainview;and seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Dock Hogg Dies Friday; Funeral Rites Saturday
Dock Hogg, 65, well known farmer of the Carroll Springs community died Friday morning at 1:30 o'clock at the home of a niece, Mrs. Clarence Mitchell, in the same community.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Carroll Springs Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marvin Johnson of Athens officiating. Burial was in the Carroll Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Hogg, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hogg and life long resident of the county, had been a member of the Methodist Church since early childhood.
Surviving are one brother, Jerry Hogg of Carroll Springs;  two half brothers, Charlie Willaims of Jacksonville and Jack Williams of Odessa, and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtie of Jacksonville, Mrs. Troy Holcomb of Houston, and Mrs. John Cummings of Carroll Springs

E. L. Robertson Dies Thursday At His Athens Home
Funeral services for Emmet Lee Robertson, 73, of Athens, who died Thursday morning at 2 a.m. at his home on McDonald street, were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Memory Chapel with Rev. Homer Ritchie officiating.
Interment was in Cottonwood cemetery.
Mr. Robertson is survived by his widow, Mrs. E. L. Robertson of Athens; four sons, Jessie Robertson of Dallas, Robert Robertson of Dallas, Jack Robertson of Athens, and LeRoy Robertson of Athens; three daughters, Mrs. Maudie Rozelle of Athens, Mrs. Ruby Hulsey of Athens, and Mrs. Loree Cox of Athens; two brothers, Walter Robertson of Ennis and Jeff Robertson of Athens; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Born in the Cottonwood community, Mr. Robertson lived there until reaching the age of nine, at which time he moved to Athens, where he remained until his death.

Paul Welch, 71 Dies Wednesday; Funeral Friday
Paul Welch, 71 retired farmer died at his Cross Roads home October 3 at 1:05 p.m. after a short illness. Mr. Welch was born in Henderson County and lived here all his life.
Funeral services were held last Friday at 2 p.m. from the Beck's Chapel Methodist Church with interment at Beck's Chapel.
Mr. Welch was a member of the Methodist Church, and also an Odd Fellow.
He is survived by his wife; one son, G. E. Welch of Palestine; one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Hanks of Houston; four brothers. I. B. Welch of Cross Roads, H. G. WElls of Port Arthur and James Welch stationed with the army in Japan; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Brown, Montalba; Mrs. Emma Goodgame, Athens; Mrs. Billie Simmons, Athens, Rt 1; Mrs. Armanda Brown, Palestine; and Mrs. Alma Fade, Cayuga; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Powers Passes Friday; Funeral Saturday
Mrs. Daisy Powers, 70, Eustace died Friday at 1:05 a.m. after an illness of five weeks.
A native of Smith county, Mrs. Powers had lived in Henderson County for the last 15 years. She was a member of the Stockard Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Stockard Baptist Church with burial in Payne Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband; two sons. T. O. Powers of Portales, New Mexico, and I. L. Powers of Eustace; five daughters, Mrs. Lucille Russell and Mrs. Estelle Sumnacher, both of Portales, New Mexico and Mrs. Bessie Lee Stone, Mrs. Ida Marie Jones, and Mrs. Essie Calicutt all of Eustace; two brothers, W. A. Fox of Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Orrick of Austin and Mrs. Goldie Bolton of Jacksonville; 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Katie Miller Dies, Pine Grove; Funeral Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Miller. who died at her home in the Pine Grove community Monday night at 9:55 o'clock after an illness of one month, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the graveside in the Miller cemetery.
The services were conducted by the Rev. L. D. Rose of Athens.
Pallbearers were Joe Sherman, Herman Holloway, Charlie McCool, Caroll Morrow, J. B. Lewis and Travis Satterfield.
The Hassell-Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Miller was born on February 3,1881, in Milam County, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Riddle, and came to Henderson County in 1902.
She was married to L. B. Miller on January 10,1904, in the Pine Grove community, and lived in that community until her death. Mr. Miller died on March 24,1939, and was buried in the Miller Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller had been a member of the Presbyterian church for fifty years.
Surviving are one son B.L. Miller of Pine Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Grace McWhorter of Carroll Springs and Mrs. Mittie Satterfield of Pine Grove; one brither C.J. Riddle of Palestine; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ward of Massey Lake, and five grandchildren.

Mr. Wroe Dies At Frankston; Funeral Rites Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Henry T. Wroe, 73, of Frankston, who died Monday in a Jacksonville hospital after a lengthy illness, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Frankston.
The services were conducted by the Rev, E.B. Shivers, Jr., pastor, and the Rev. Sidney Blackburn, pastor of the First Methodist Church.  Burial was in the Frankston City Cemetery.
Mr. Wroe, a native of Texas and resident of Frankston for thirty years, is survived by one son, Sam T. Wroe; one sister, Mrs. R.L. House, and one grandchild, all of Frankston.

Mrs. Pickle, Former Resident Of Athens, Dies At Port Arthur
News was received in Athens Tuesday of the death of Mrs. C. B. Pickle on Sunday, January 11, at the home of her daughter, Mrs.W. D. Hodges, at Port Arthur.
Mrs. Pickle was the former Miss Della Dunklin and lived in Athens before her marriage to Dr. C. B. PickleSurviving are one son, Chesley B. Pickle of Baltimore, Md.; four daughters, Mrs. G. B. Beene, Mrs. W. S. Dudley and Mrs. W. D. Hodges of Port Arthur and Miss Thelma Pickle of Dallas; five sisters, Mrs. T. J. Pledge of Houston, Mrs. John Hogan of Memphis, Tenn, Mrs. F. A. Arps of Little Rock, Ark., and Mrs. J. L. Mitcham of Murchison, and five grandchildren.
Shelby and Raymond Robbins of Athens and Mrs. Mitcham attended the funeral services, which was held in Port Arthur.

Mrs. Starr Dies Saturday; Rites Held Sunday
Mrs. Frances Starr, 73, died suddenly from a heart attack Saturday afternoon at 4:20 in her home on Gauntt Street.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Athens, with burial in Cottonwood.
Officiating ministers were Rev. M. M. Davvis and Rev. Warren Newman.
Pallbearers were Lynn Stegall, Rufus Meredith, James Meredith, Oral Meredith, Keeble Meredith, Fonso Stegall, Mike Stegall and Connie Fugate.
Mrs. Starr was the wife of the late J. N. Starr, who preceded her in death in 1918.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. A. T. Starr of Luling and Huron Starr of Athens, one brother, Dave Meredith of Eustace; one sister Mrs. Lou Stegall of Eustace; and eight grandchildren.
She was the former Miss. Francis Meredith.
Mrs. Starr had been a member of the Methodist Church since her youth, having joined at Meredith Campground.

Mr. Cornelius Dies At Eustace; Funeral Rites Held Sunday
Funeral services for Alfred C. Cornelius who died Saturday night at 10 o'clock at the home of a son, Jim Cornelius at Eustace after a brief illness were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the graveside in the Moorehead Cemetery.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Tucker, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Eustace, with interment in the Moorehead Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lewis Tuck, J. R. Hathcock, J. D. Ashton, Preston Roberts, Robert Powell and Frank Mead.
The Hassell & Foster Funeral Home was in charge in arrangements.
Mr. Cornelius, a retired farmer was born on January 2,1865 in Blount County, Alabama, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Cornelius and moved from Alabama to Ennis in 1900. He moved to Eustace in 1911, and had resided there until his death. Mrs. Cornelius, the former Miss Sarah Tidwell, died in 1940 and was buried in the Moorehead Cemetery.
Surviving are five sons, Ollin Cornelius, Carter Cornelius, Leon Cornelius and Ceci Cornelius, all of Dallas, and Jim Cornelius of Eustace; one daughter Mrs. Pearl Hathcock of Dallas; three half brothers, Luther Cornelius of California, Arthur Cornelius of Oklahoma City, and Walter Cornelius of Atlas, Oklahoma, and one sister, Miss Myrtie Cornelius of California.

Mulkey Pulley Dies Suddenly Sunday At Home Near Eustace
Mulkey Pulley, about 55, was found dead in the bed at his home three miles north of Eustace Sunday afternoon about 3:45 o'clock by Mrs. Fred Abbott and son whose home is nearby.
An inquest was held by Justice of the Peace Lunsford, accompanied by the Sheriff Dean Holiman.  Dr. D. Price and Constable Boone Reynolds, and the verdictwas that he died of natural causes, probably of a heart attack.  He had been in ill health for some time.
Holiman said that Mrs. Abbott and her son had been helping Mr. Pulley with his livestock lately, and has gone to his home Sunday afternoon to see if he needed help.
Mr. Pulley is survived by three daughters and two sons; three brothers, Moody Pulley of Bosier City, La., W.F. Pulley of Ranger, and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Cain of Payne Springs and Mrs. Ora Gilliam of New Braunfels.
He also was a brother of the late Dr. L.W. Pulley of Trinidad.

Final Rites Sunday For Mrs. Ballard At Eustace Church
Funeral services for Mrs. W.L. Ballard, lifelong resident of Henderson County, were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Eustace Methodist Church With Rev. B.W. Barnett officiating. 
Mrs. Ballard, 72, passed away early Saturday at her home in Eustace.  She had been ill for sometime.  Interment was in the Moorehead Cemetery.
The deceased, the former Miss Eula Graham, was born in the Cottonwood community.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1941.  Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Methodist CHurch.
Survivors are two sons, Arthur Ballard of Greenville and W.W. Ballard of Tyler; a daughter, Nrs. A.L. Sharpley of Waxahachie; a brother A.G. Graham of Eustace; four grandsons and one great granddaughter. 
Pallbearers were H.C. Mosely, Ernest Cornelius, X. Hastings, J.F. Key, and LeRoy and Carney Kirby.
Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Last Rights Are Held For Frank Dulaney At Trinidad Church
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Trinidad Sunday for Frank Dulaney, who died Saturday morning following a heart attack. Dr. W. B. Pearson, pastor officiated. Interment was in the Trinidad Cemetery.
Mr. Dulaney was born in the Indian territory of Oklahoma, what is now Carnish, in 1901. He had lived in Trinidad for the past three years, coming from Corsicana. He was a salesman for a Ft. Worth firm for this section.
The deceased is survived by his wife of Trinidad, daughters, Nancy Ruth and Mrs. J. E. Jones of Trinidad, and Mrs. J. E. Jones of Trinidad, and Mrs. B. L. Goen of Wolfe City and a son, Frank Junior of Trinidad.
Five sisters also survive. They are Mrs. J. C. Dale of Ennis, Mrs. W. B. Mitchell of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Robert Morgan of Dallas, Mrs. Tom Connelly of Austin and Mrs. Tom Roberts of Abilene. One brother, Clarence Dulaney of Houston also survives.
Pallbearers were Roy Junior Bostick, Gwendol Stanfield, Jack Bayless, J. D. Johnston, A. L. McCrackin, Cryon Simmons, G. A. Quinn and Dan Taylor Jr.
Corley Funeral Home of Corsicana had charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Bolby Dies At Kemp; Funeral Rites Are Held On Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie McKenzie Bolby, 85 who died at her home in Kemp Saturday were held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Presbyterian church in that town.
She was the widow of the late Robert Y. Bolby.
Survivinng are one brother, Guy McKinzie of Claude; one niece, Mrs. E. E. McDoagold of Kemp, and three nephews Clarence McKenzie of New York, Ambros Pede of Scurry and Cecil Bolby of Dallas.
