Well Known Negro Dies Suddenly Mon. Afternoon
----------
Old Uncle Elias Howard,
aged negro, and well known to practically every man, woman and
child in this section died very suddenly about 3 o'clock Monday
afternoon at the home of Sara Green as the result of heart
trouble of which he had been suffering for some time past.
Old Uncle Elias has been a very familiar character in this city
for a good many years and he enjoyed a great host of friends not
only among his own race, but of the white people as well, and his
passing leaves a tinge of regret with all that knew him. He will
be grealely missed. Although in his declining years he was
practically blind and his body has been crippled with rheumatism
he was ever cheerful and always had a good word for everyone.
He was buried on Christmas Eve in the colored cemetery at
Antioch.
