Bird Dog Trainer Buried at Athens

Funeral services were held here for Eldridge Franks, 81, colored,
widely known in sporting circles as a trainer of fine bird dogs
for the late
Sid Richardson and other hunters.
Franks entered a Dallas hospital February 14 and died last week.
A specified sum had been set aside for the Negro for the
remainder of his life by the Sid Richardson Foundation and the
Foundation also paid the
cost of the funeral.
Note:
Death certificate shows Eldridge G. Franks born July 25, 1878 in
TX. and died March 2, 1960 St. Paul Hosp, Dallas, TX.

Death certificate lists parents as Jerry G. Franks and Nancy Jane
