Funeral Services held for D.C. Edwards

 

     D.C. Edwards, 89, Died at 8 p.m. Saturday at Payne Springs following a lengthy illness.

     Mr. Edwards lived most of his life at Murchison.

     He is survived by four sons: DeWitt Edwards of Lython Springs, R.R. Edwards of Murchison, Marvin Edwards of Lovington, New Mexico, and Emory Edwards of Tyler; five daughters: Mrs. C.S. Calvert of Duncan, Oklahoma, Mrs. Jewel Richards of Murchison, Mrs. Lottie Lewis of Murchison, Mrs. Nellie McCall of Murchison, and Mrs. Etta Mayfield  of Brownsboro, 31 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

     Funeral services were held at Carroll and Lehr Memory Chapel Sunday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. T.H. Townley officiating and interment was made in Red Hill Cemetery.

     Grandson served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Edwards Dies; Funeral Services Friday Afternoon

 

     Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mr. Blanche Edwards, 57, who died at the home of a daughter in Athens at 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning after an illness of several months.

     Services were held at 3 o’clock from Barton’s Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Lunceford officiating and burial was in Asberry Cemetery. Carroll and Lehr of Athens was in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Edwards formerly resided in the Shady Grove community north of Murchison and moved to Athens following the death of her husband last November 9th, She was married to the late R.F. Edwards in Athens September 12, 1917. She was the former Miss Blanche Castleberry.

     Survivors include a son, Ferrel F. Edwards of Crescent City, California; a daughter, Mrs. W.C. Johnston of Athens; a brother, Alvin Castleberry of Phoenix, Arizona; three half-brothers, Ennis Tedford, Kelsey Tedford, both of Brownsboro, and Clanton Tedford of Dallas.

John Brown Dies; Funeral Services are Held Monday

 

     John Starling Brown of Athens died Sunday morning at 8:30 o’clock at the home of a daughter Mrs. W.L. Forson, in Clifton.

     Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 p’clock at the First Methodist Church of Murchison, with the Rev. Kermit Hollingsworth of Athens, the Rev. J.B. White of Tyler and the Rev. Joe B. Stuart of Brownsboro officiating. Interment was in the Red Hill Cemetery.

     Grandsons served as pallbearers.

     The Hassell and Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

     Mr. Brown, a retired farmer, was born on July 29, 1859, in Edom, and moved to Henderson County when he was a young man. He had lived in and near Athens and Murchison since then. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

     Surviving are his wife; five sons, A.R. Brown and M.W. Brown of Athens, M.C. Brown of Paducah, F.K. Brown of Dallas, and H. J. Brown of Fort Worth; four daughters, Mrs. E.W. Killingsworth of Paducah, Mrs. J.F. Dyer of Murchison, Mrs. W.L. Forson of Clifton, and Mrs Dewey Saylors of Brownsboro, and thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
