Funeral services for Coy Elledge, 85, of Athens, a lifelong
resident of Henderson County, were held Monday afternoon at the
Carroll and Lehr Memory Chapel
with Rev. Jack Burgess officiating.
Burial was in the Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Elledge died Sunday at 5:10 a.m. in a Tyler hospital
following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Elledge had lived in Athens 41 years, moving here from
Murchison.
He was a retired rancher and farmer and also had extensive
business holdings. These include Elledge Courts and buildings
housing, a grocery store, self service
station, bait shop, and other businesses all on West Corsicana
Street.
Mr. Elledge married Miss Lillie Gothard of the Ash community on
July 23, 1911. She survives.
Mr. Elledge was the son of the late Cant Elledge and Ann Adams,
pioneer settlers of the northern section of Henderson County.
Pallbearers were Jack Quinn, Jerome Elledge Jr., Clebbern Pool,
D. B. Poole, David Porter and Dugan Porter.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Quinn, Bo Porter, Roland Elledge,
Clifford Pool, H. L. Quinn, Albert Gothard, and Altus Quinn.
