Fred E. Cobb
 
Funeral services for Fred Edward Cobb, 69, of Hobbs, New Mexico will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Foster and Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Grover C. Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens City Cemetery.
 
Mr. Cobb died Friday in Quitman in a farm tractor accident.
 
He was born July 3, 1915 in Navarro County. He had lived in Hobbs for the past 30 years, formerly living in Athens. He was a retired tool pusher and drilling advisor and was preceded in death by his parents D. H. and Nannie Cobb, a wife, Leona, and a son, Hubbard Don Cobb. He was a Baptist.
 
Survivors include his wife, Margie Baker Cobb of Hobbs, one son, John Baker of Freeport, Texas; one daughter Linda Baker Waggoner of San Diego, California; two brothers, Grady Cobb of Seagoville and James Cobb of Athens; one sister, Mattie Pelham of Athens, five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

GROVER DICKSON, 26, KILLED FRIDAY IN VIET NAM FIGHTING
 
Grover Dickson, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Dickson of Midland, former Brownsboro residents, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jackson of the New Hope Community, was killed in combat Friday in Viet Nam.
 
The message received by his parents Tuesday night contained no further details.
 
Mr. Dickson entered the service last December and was sent to Viet Nam shortly afterward.  He attended school at Brownsboro when he was a child.
 
Funeral arrangements were pending.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Dickson moved to Midland from Brownsboro about a year ago. She was the former Miss Merle Jackson and was reared at New Hope.

Our hearts were made sad Friday when we learned of the death of a very good friend and a former citizen of this place, Guy E. Dickson Jr. of Tyler. He passed away at 10 p.m. Thursday in Medical Center Hospital in Tyler after an illness of several months.

Funeral services were conducted by Bob Barnhill of Ft. Worth at Burks Walker Funeral Home in Tyler with burial at New Hope Cemetery beside the graves of his sons, Grover and Gary. Guy was born August 31, 1917, and had lived in Tyler the past 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Merle Jackson Dickson (a native of this place); two sons Arlen Dickson of Midland, Ronny Dickson of Victoria, two brothers, Gerald Dickson of Houston and Dennis Dickson of San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Hadsell of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Dorothy Otter of Roseboro, North Carolina and eight grandchildren.

SERVICES SET FOR LEONA COBB


Services fro Mrs. Leona Cobb, 55, of Hobbs, N. M. are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Foster and Brown Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Athens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cobb died at 12:25 a. m. Monday in a local hospital.

She was born February 21, 1924 in Van Zandt County and had resided in Hobbs for the past 12 years. Before moving to Hobbs she was a resident of Odessa.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Fred Cobb of Hobbs; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Bledsoe of Mabank, Mrs. Linnie Rhodes of Terrell, and Mrs. Lela Tapp of San Antonio, and one grandson, Gary Don Cobb of Athens.

HUBBARD D. COBB KILLED IN VIETNAM RITES PENDING HERE

Hubbard Don Cobb, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Cobb of Athens and a former Athens resident, was killed last Sunday in Vietnam, according to word received here by relatives.

The message contained no particulars.
Funeral services were pending at the Hassell and Foster Funeral Home. The body will be brought to Athens for burial services with full military honors.

Cobb was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cobb of Hobbs, N. M. and was born and reared in Athens. He attended grammar school here before his parents moved to Hobbs.

He has been in Vietnam since last June. Survivors are his son, Gary Don Cobb of Ft. Worth, and his parents.

D. H. COBB DIES TUESDAY, RITES WEDNESDAY

Daniel Hubbard Cobb, 87, a resident of Athens since 1940, died Tuesday at 1:45 a. m. in a local nursing home after an extended illness. He was a retired farmer.

Born at Larue, Mr. Cobb lived at Mabank several years before moving to Athens. He was a member of West Athens Baptist Church.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Hassell and Foster Chapel with the Rev. Grover Bishop officiating.

Burial will be in the Athens City Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, James Cobb of Athens, Grady Cobb of Seagoville, and Fred Cobb of Hobbs, one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Calloway of Athens, three brothers, Andrew Cobb, Melvin Cobb, and Raymond Cobb, all of Athens; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Costlow and Mrs. Nola Foster both of Athens; Mrs. Nealie Payne of Dallas, and Mrs. Mary Lou Thomas of Palestine, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be M. C. Cobb, Billy Joe Foster, Alvie Payne, Bernice Payne, Gene Payne and Brad Bleeker.
