Blakeney Services Friday
Earnest R. Blakeney, 73, died at 5 a.m. Thursday in an Athens
hospital after a brief illness.
Born June 26, 1892 in the Oakland community of Henderson County,
Mr. Blakeney lived his entire life in the Malakoff area.
A retired farmer and rancher, he lived in Malakoff at the time of
his death.
Mr. Blakeney is survived by his wife; five sons, Robert Ernest
Blakeney of Orange, Jim Blakeney of Malakoff, Johnny R. Blakeney
and Wayne Blakeney,
both of Dallas, and Huey Blakeney of Lott; four daughters; Mrs.
Jap Lucas of Athens, Mrs. Thornton Killough and Mrs. Kenneth
Wood, both of Dallas,
and Mrs. L. D. Storey of Malakoff; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie
Whiteley of Kemp and Mrs. Letha Spivey of Mesquite, and 19
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the First
Methodist Church of Malakoff with the Rev. Bill Bonner and the
Rev. D. D. Simpson officiating,
and burial was in Malakoff City Cemetery with Carroll and Lehr in
charge.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Death certificate shows Earnest Roland Blakeney born June 26,
1892 in TX., and died April 7, 1966 in Athens, TX.
Shows parents R. J. Blakeney and Carrie Rushing. Lists informant
