Aged Inmate Of Odd Fellows Home Buried At Mankin
----------
Mrs. J. L. Kibby, better known
to her friends and loved ones
as "Grandma", inmate of the Odd Fellows Home as
a ward
of Malakoff Lodge No 885 since 1921 passed into the great
beyond at the Ennis Home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday morning
following a short illness.
Grandma Kibby, whose age was somewhere in the nineties,
had been broken in health for a number of years and the
death angel came as the only relief to her suffering
which
she bore with the utmost patience. Her remains were
brought from Ennis Sunday afternoon by members of the
local Lodge of Odd Fellows, which organization she dearly
loved, and were tenderly laid to rest in the Mankin
cemetery
beside those of her husband, who preceded her in death
some years ago.
In 1921, after the earning capacity of Grandpa and
Grandma
Kibby had reached its end, they were prevailed upon,
after
much difficulty, to enter the old folk's home at
Corsicana,
where they might rest in peace and comfort during their
declining years. They soon became extremely happy in
their
new surroundings and lived contented until the death
angel
claimed the soul of the husband. Soon thereafter the new
home at Ennis was constructed by the Texas Odd Fellows
and the old folks were removed to that city. Mrs. Kibby,
by
this time, had wended her way into the hearts of those
about
her and through their love and adoration of her lovable
self,
her remaining years without her husband were made
comfortable and happy.
The passing of Grandma Kibby leaves a vacant place among
those old folks that never can be filled.
