Funeral Services For Mrs. M. J. Cofer Held Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. M. J.
Cofer who passed away at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Fort on Route 1 early
Sunday morning, were held from the Malakoff Cemetery at 5
o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. H. B. Laney and Rev. E. L.
Edgar officiated. Interment took place in the Malakoff
Cemetery under the direction of J. A. Ballard, local
funeral
director.
Mrs. Cofer has been in failing health for some time, but
only
the past few days has she been unable to be up and about
the house. Although expected at any moment, her death
came as a shock to her loved ones and friends.
Mrs. Cofer was born in Perry County Tennessee in the year
1859 and at the time of her death was 73 years of age,
having lived her allotted time of three score years and
ten. In 1900 she came to
make her home in Texas and since that time she has lived
in and near this
community. In early life she was united with the
Methodist church and throughout
her long years she has lived a consistant christian life.
The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Will Fort,
and eight grand children.
