Large Crowd At Class Reunion of Athens '08-'09
The fourth annual reunion of the graduating classes of 1908 and
1909 of the Athens High school
were held Wednesday evening at Lake Underwood, with Archie
Underwood, Winfield Stirman
and A. S. Ford, host for the occasion.
As the guest arrived around 8 o'clock, sweet strains of music by
the Rhythm Rascals greeted them
adding to the gala spirit of the happy event.
The buffet supper which was eaten on the spacious lawn, consisted
of delicious barbecued
chicken, done by Henry Stirman, and an abundance of salads,
cakes, bottle drinks and condiments.
The hours were filled with the merry chatter of reminiscences,
and the hot seats and collapsible
chair furnished the usual fun.
Dancing was also a pleasing diversion on the lake shore pavilion
surrounded by the picturesque
scene.
A brief business period was held with the president, Winfield
Stirman, presiding.
Letters were read from absentees of the class, Adolph Hable,
Portland, Oregon; Lillian Collins
Scarbrough, Dallas; Minnie Bob and Pete Richardson, Sugarland;

Lubbock; Pearl Gaunt Skinner,
Rochester, Minn.; and to Willie Carroll, a letter and a beautiful
pot plant was sent as a token of
love and best wishes, on this, the 30th of June, her birthday
anniversary.
The annual election of officers named Beatty Jones, president;
Newburn Stirman, vice-president;
Ona Bell Davis Lehr, secretary - treasurer.
Wofford Cain to whom the party was indebted for the music for the
occasion, made the timely
suggestion that a new office, that of honorary vice -president,
be bestowed on A. S. Ford, a class
inlaw, because of his keen interest in the class activities.
