Stella Aline Gentry Riddlesperger Stewart "Scrap"
STELLA ALINE GENTRY RIDDLESPERGER STEWART (nicknamed "Scrap") was born in Malakoff, Texas on July 14, 1908 into a pioneer Henderson County family. She was the second and last child of Dan Gentry and Pearl Owen Gentry, the first child being Mary Anne Gentry Royall. Scrap's nickname was taken from her mother's niece who died in a tragic Palestine fire not long before Scrap Gentry's birth. Scrap attended the Malakoff schools and in high school became a boarding student at both Lon Morris Academy in Jacksonville, and Centenary Academy in Shreveport. Scrap enrolled at Baylor University in Waco in 1926. Scrap's first marriage, which ended in divorce, was to Hobart Clark Riddlesperger in 1930. Scrap's only child was born to this marriage, i.e., Anthony Gentry Riddlesperger ("Tony"). Scrap's second marriage was to Van D. Stewart who survived her. Scrap died in an automobile accident in Pomona, California on April 25, 1956, and is buried in Malakoff at the City Cemetery.
