Rev. Edgar Conducts Methodist Services

from The Malakoff News

Friday, June 12, 1973

The Rev. E. L. Edgar, pastor of the Malakoff Methodist Church from 1930-1933, visited friends in Malakoff over the weekend and conducted the service at the church Sunday evening.

In the spring of 1933, during Rev. Edgar's pastorate, the church was destroyed by a tornado. He recalls that the pews and other furniture were moved to sheds at the Hawn Lumber Company and the congregation worshiped there until a new church was built.

Bro. Edgar served 68 years as a preacher, and last year at the age of 87, he published a book, "The Darndest Things Happen To Preachers." He is presently gathering material for another book which he says will be a collection of inspirational thoughts.

During his pastorate, he recalls that Malakoff had about 500 residents. He left Malakoff for a church in Corrigan, then moved to Tomball, where he lives now. In Tomball, he was also editor of the Tomball Tribune for eight years. Although retired, Bro. Edgar says he still preaches occasionally
