In William's house (1880) is his mother Cartrine
JARMAN age 47 born in N.C., and James WIMBERLY age 21. He was a
former slave belonging to Cartrine in Tenn. His mother and father
also belonged to her. After the opening of the Civil War Cartrine
had to send the family away because she couldn't feed them and
her own family. James' father and mother were killed. When
Cartrine heard about it. She went and got him and raised him in
her own household. My great-grandmother Beulah always called him
Uncle Jim.
