Willow Springs, July 11
Green wrap tomato season is about over. There will be hundreds of
bushels of ripe tomatoes in the fields. If people don't have
plenty of canned tomatoes it will be their own fault. They were
selling very cheap, and some are being given away
Mrs. Bennett Lewis, Mrs. Roy Loper, and Mrs. John McElhaney went
to Beck's Chapel Monday to look after their farm interests there.
Robert Reynolds of Dallas is visiting his aunt, Mrs. B.O.
Conditt.
Dalton Trammell of Dallas spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs.
Onnie Trammell.
Margaret Nell Pate is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Martha Pate.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Criswell and daughter of Dansbury are
visiting his mother, Mrs. Kate Criswell.
Mr. and Mrs. D.P. Grady of Temple visited in the Virgil Bristow
home the latter part of the last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Reynolds and son and L.E. Dosser of Dallas
spent the weekend with Mrs. L.E. Dosser.
Ferguson Alexander of Ailbuquerque, New Mexico, came in Thursday
for a truck load of produce. He bought watermelons, cantalopes,
peas, tomatoes, cucumbers and other produce. He reports tomatoes
thirty-five cents a pound there. While here, he visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Virgil Bristow. He returned home Sunday.
Mrs. Anna Allen of Malakoff, is spending this week with her
daughter, Mrs. O.L. Starks. Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Starks and Mrs.
Anna Allen visited Sunday in the Julius Perry home in Kerens.
Irvin Starks of Tri-City, united with the church here Sunday, by
letter.
There were 97 in Sunday School and 102 in Training Union. The
film of the Resurrection of Christ was shown at the church Sunday
night, for the benefit of those who failed to see the picture on
Easter Sunday.
We had visitors from Malakoff, Athens, and Beaumont Sunday.
Baptismal services were held Sunday afternoon at the First Church
in Athens.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Daniels of Ft. Worth visited with Rev. and Mrs.
Scott Turner Saturday night.
The descendants of the late Dick Stone enjoyed a reunion at the
Boyd Spring in Rome. At the noon hour, lunch was spread picnic
style at the church. There were over a hundred present. The group
plans to make this reunion an annual affair.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Stone of Witchita Falls are visiting Mr. and
Mrs. C.R. Boyd.
Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Boyd, Linda, Mrs. Walter Walker, Mrs. Margie
Mills and Sandra Wilson, of Beaumont were Tuesday visitors in the
Woodrow Trammell home.
Jack Trammell, who is employed in the oil field, was carried to
Kilgore Thursday to have a piece of steel removed from his arm.
He returned to work Monday.
Virgil Bristow was carried to the Wolfe-Dupborne Hospital
Wednesday and was dismissed Thursday evening.
David Evans of Palestine spent the latter part of the week with
Mr. and Mrs. Dugan Boyd. He went from here to see his uncle,
Nolan Cobb, at Mid-Co before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Boyd and children and Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Boyd
visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Hollinsworth Saturday
night. They enjoyed some home-frozen cream while there.
Jerry Cobb of Dallas, who was here last week is spending the week
with his grandmother, Mrs. J.C. Cobb of Athens.
Irvin Mills, who is employed at Lufkin, spent the weekend at
home. Mrs. Mills and boys accompanied him back to look for an
apartment.
