Announcement Made Of Wedding Of Popular Couple Of Oakland


Public announcement was made today of the marriage of two outstanding
young citizens of the Oakland community. Mr. Jack Mitcham and Miss Grace
Tallifero
were united in marriage by Rev. C. A. West, pastor of Eustace circuit
at 8:00 o'clock Saturday evening. The marriage took place at the Methodist
parsonage at Eustace.

Mr. Mitcham is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Mitcham, pioneer citizen of the
Oakland community, and is an employee of the Malakoff Fuel Company, with
which company he has been identified for a number of years.

Miss Tallifero has been a teacher in the Oakland school for some time.

Mr. and Mrs. Mitcham will make their home in Oakland.


Unemployed Fail to Register for Sewing Room Jobs at Eustace

Jobs in the government sewing room at Eustace are going begging through
the failure of unemployed women there to register at the National Reemployment
office here, it was learned Saturday morning. The local Reemployment office has
received authority to employ more women in the Eustace sewing room but no
unemployed women are registered for the Eustace area who can qualify for the
jobs. Ten now are working in the sewing room there.

Increase Here.
The force of 37 women now working in the sewing room in Athens will be increased
immediately to fifty, it was announced. There are many women available for the new
jobs. here.

Malakoff Man Left Estate of $1,100.00

The late H. A. Payne of Malakoff left an estate valued for probate purposes at $1,100.00,
acording to an appraisement made by W. E. Phillips, J. C. McClure and W. E. Phillips,
Jr. The estate was left to the wife of the deceased, Sarah Payne. The property included
65 acres on the Peter Tumlinson survey and three lots in the town of Malakoff.

School Contracts Approved by WPA Office, Ft. Worth

Word has been received from the Works Progress Administration office at Fort Worth
advising that contracts recently let for an addition to the high school building here have
been approved by the State engineer. As soon as Washington approval is secured a
work order will be issued.

It is hoped to get started on the new addition shortly after the new year.
