Stockard
(Special Correspondence)
Stockard, June 12,--The dry windy weather we had last week
did a lot of damage to farm products but the good rain we
got Monday night will be a great reviver and was appreciated by
all.
Health is about the same. Some cases linger on.
Mrs. Garner is more poorly and Charlie Richardson is slightly
improved but is still under strict treatment of his doctor.
Little Sue Conway had a very sick spell last week, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Conway.
Mrs. Edward Dixon and three children, Nancy, Lee and Carolyn,
visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Duke of
Kaufman over the week end.
Mrs. Clifford Shaver has her youngest brother of Longview
visiting in her home.
Several people from here attended church services Sunday at
Pickens after Sunday School here, and enjoyed a fine
sermon delivered by Bro. Riley.
Mr. P. S. Conway has returned home from South Texas where
he is employed, for a few days stay with his wife and
three children, Carroll, Patsy and Melva Sue.
Everyone is glad to learn that their good neighbor,
Mr. Derrus January is able to sit up. We hope for him
a complete and speedy recovery.
Dan Reeves, who has had employment in Dallas, has
returned to accept employment in Athens.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hughes and Leslie Cole visited in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Stockard Sunday. Also Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Hughes visited in her brother's home Sunday evening, Joe
Benge.
The Stockard Home Demonstration Club ladies who ordered
pineapples cooperatively with the other clubs of the county
have received their pineapples and are highly pleased. They are
larger than ordered and have turned out better and more
fruit. The next Stockard club meeting will be in the home of
Mrs. Chas. Richardson on June 20. Mrs. Greenhaw, county
home demonstration agent, will be present.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford gave an ice cream supper to their friends
Saturday night, which was enjoyed by all present.
