Pine Forest, Dec. 12-
Rev. Gayer made a splendid talk at church
Saturday night. His sermon was based on the scripture where the
young ruler knelt down at Jesus' feet and asked him what to do to
be saved.
Misses Robert Parrott and Reba Minor
visited last week in the home of the former's sister, Mrs.
Sherman Palmer of Jacksonville.
Bobby Inez Walker of Ledbetter was a guest one
night last week in the home of Katherine Bizzell.
Grady Mae Leopard of Liberty Hill spent one
night last week in the home of Evelyn Springer.
Tom and Jess Pipes of Frankston were in our
community last Monday on business.
Messrs. Boss Garrett and E. Keefe
of Frankston visited Saturday afternoon in the home of Y. F. Harris.
Bettye Joyce Hughes was honored on her fifth
birthday with a party given her at her home Saturday, Dec 9th
from 2 till 4 o'clock. The honoree received several nice gifts.
Outdoor games were played then refreshments of cake and hot
chocolate were served to the following: J. S. Wofford,
Murphy and Roy DeRossett, Pauline Bettye Joyce
and J. W. Cook, Nixie Palmer,
George Ray and Evelyn Hughes and the honoree.
Louise Cook attended to hostess duty.
Elizabeth Holiman was absent from school two
days last week on account of illness.
Almost all our men have enlisted on the unemployment relief roll
and are busy putting our roads in better shape.
Myrtis Harley of Kickapoo spent the week-end in
the home of Syble Harris.
J. S. Wofford was ill Saturday.
We are still having spring time weather.
Tom Burks died at his home last Thursday
afternoon at 2:15 and was laid to rest Friday afternoon in the Wofford
cemetery at 3:00 o'clock. The many friends of the bereaved ones
greatly sympathize with them in their time of sorrow.
Mrs. Brown Harris and children of Frankston and
Mrs. John Holder of Pine Hill visited Sunday
afternoon in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Y. F. Harris.
Mrs. Cason Burks was called to the bedside of
her mother, Mrs. Arch Weesner of Longview.
Clyde Houston, Howard and Lonzo McDonald
made a business trip to Elkhart Monday.
