April 20-After not noticing any news from here in quite a while will write.

The weather is pretty at the present time. It surely is dry here-every one wanting to see some rain.

Most all the farmers have their cotton planted; some have cotton ready to chop.

Rev. W. W. Birchfield filled his regular appointment here the second Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night. His wife, was here Sunday at church.

There was singing Saturday night at the church which was enjoyed by all.

S. W. Fowler has moved back to his home place. We are all glad to have him back with us again.

Mr. and Mrs. Reece Carver are visiting Mrs. Carver’s parents at this writing.

There was an Easter Egg hunt at W. Y. Howell’s Easter Sunday. A large crowd present and plenty of eggs to hunt.

Our school has been out two weeks now. Everyone disliked for it to close so soon and are hoping to get their same teachers back another term.

Little Eugene Lawrence of Brownsboro visited his sister, Mrs. A. O. Ball Saturday night.

Mrs. M. L. Barkley of Mt. Olive is visiting her daughter, Mrs. M. E. Day at this writing.

One of Mrs. Lamberth’s little girls got her leg broken a few days past, but is doing just fine at present.

Tom Ball and family of Alto were visitors at this place Sunday.

Mason Day and Shelly Ball went to Alto Saturday, came back Sunday and report a nice time.

Miss Winnie Shelton is making her home at Ben Corley’s at present time.

Ollie Cox is visiting his parents at this writing.

Mr. and Mrs. Marion Cox of Murchison were visitors of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Cox Saturday.

PAYNE SPRINGS
April 20-The clouds are looking like rain at this writing. The farmers are undecided whether to plant cotton this week or not.

A party at Mr. Lawrence Underford’s Friday night was enjoyed by a large crowd. Also a party at Mr. Will Gilfoy’s Saturday night was enjoyed by a large crowd.

The League is progressing nicely and we have a nice program every Sunday night. All come out and take part. The more we have the better program we have.

Johnnie Lee Hambrick spent Saturday night and Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Hunter and family.

Clyde Hunter has been on the sick list the past week, but is some better at this writing. Also Miss Bertha Pelham has had tonsilitis this week end.

Our school will be out April 24th. Everyone come out to the exercises Friday night.
