ATHENS WEEKLY REVIEW
September 18, 1913
OPELIKA
Sept 15 - The weather man has been very generous this time and in
fact kept us in the house about three days to keep out of the
rain. Had we had this rain in broken doses during those hot July
days we would have all been able to take in the State Fair next
month.
We have been requested to announce that Evangelist William
H. Stephens of Ima, New Mexico, will begin a two weeks
meeting here on or about 21st inst. He has a large tabernacle
that will seat 1000 people and he will have it shipped here in a
few days. He comes highly recommended and is known through out
the nation, as he preaches everywhere. A good meeting is
expected, and we hope that people far and near will come to hear
him.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Spray passed through here
yesterday going back to Corsicana. They had been to Nacogdoches
to attend the funeral of Mr. Davis, Mrs. Sprays
father, who died of cancer.
Gus Newman returned to Corsicana yesterday. He
had been home on a few days visit.
W. P. McDaniel and W. E. Howell went
to Athens yesterday.
G. B. Wallace sent up to Corsicana in his shirt
sleeves on Thursday and we see he wore a coat back on Saturday.
Nest time we presume he will take along his overcoat, umbrella
and fan.
W. H. Brantley of Teague was guest of his
brother-in-law W. B. Brooks for several days
last week returning to Teague Sunday.
W. M. Boltz of Corsicana is spending the week
here in his bungalow over on First Avenue. He says he never gets
tired of looking at the pretty trees and hearing the birds sing.
M. C. DeWitt of Lufkin made a flying trip down
here Saturday to visit his old fiends B. Starnes
and family, returning home yesterday.
The grave yard working at Red Hill on the 9th was largely
attended and left the city of the dead very much improved.
Mrs. May ONeal of Dallas who has been
visiting her sister Mrs. Dan Echols returned home Thursday.
