OPELIKA

May 4-Not seeing any news from this place since several issues of the Review, thought I would write the happenings.

After the nice rain last week, farmers are very busy, some working their cotton; others plowing, some planting over.

Mrs. S. W. Fowler and family have moved back home since their school was out. We are very glad to have them back with us again. Mr. Fowler has the singing class together again. We will sing very Saturday night. Everybody invited to attend.

Quite a lot of people from here attended the singing convention at Brownsboro Sunday. Certainly heard some fine singing. The next convention will be held with Opelika class, the first Sunday in June, in the afternoon. We certainly thank Mr. Fowler for securing this convention for us. Everybody invited to attend, especially the singers.

Jim Norris and family of Martins Mill visited Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Kent Saturday night and Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ball visited Mrs. Ball’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Lawrence of Brownsboro Saturday night and Sunday.

E. V. Fowler and family of Reid’s Branch community visited at the S. W. Fowler home Sunday and attended the singing in the afternoon at Brownsboro.

J. W. Wiggins, of Oakland, thru some attraction visited our community Sunday.

Health of the people in this community is fine at this writing, everybody too busy to be sick.

Abb Ball and family were visitors here Sunday.

Mrs. Burtha Turner of Dallas is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hatton at this writing.

Almenda Kent was a visitor of her brother, T. E. Kent Saturday night.

There was a party at Arthur Ball’s a few night past; a large crowd of young people were present and all report a jolly good time.

There was singing at our church Saturday night, a large crowd was present and good singing.
C. W. Corley was a visitor of Opelika Sunday but not on any kind of his “business” though.

There will be church at Opelika Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night. Rev. W.W.Birchfield will fill his regular appointment. Everybody come.
END
