OPELIKA
(Special Correspondence)
Opelika, Feb 19 - It seems that winter is here at last. We are in
hopes that the cold has not killed the young gardens.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Malone visited in the Matthews
home near Murchison.
Mrs. B. A. Cox who has been visiting in the home
of her daughter, Mrs. T. E. Kent, the past week,
returned to her home on Sunday.
Clifford Shaver of Pickens Spur spent the
week-end in the home of his mother, Mrs. Pearl Shaver
and other relatives.
Gordon Griffin and family visited Thursday in
the home of his father, Lee Griffin, near
Murchison.
Health in our community is not so good. Mr. O. W.
Killingsworth has been real sick with the flu the past
week but is better at this time.
The measles epidemic has about subsided; the only new cases now
are the little boys of Mrs. Pearl Shaver and
little Nina Faye Wiggins. I believe that
everyone that had not had the measles in this community have had
them this winter.
Since our last report death claimed Mr. J. M. Alvis.
He was sick only a few days of measles and pneumonia. The family
has our heartfelt sympathy.
In spite of the cold, unfavorable weather we had a very good
attendance at Sunday School. We hope since spring is about here
and health is improving Sunday School will soon be back to
normal. Lets each one do our best to make it so.
Next Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night is Bro.
Alreds regular appointment. He will probably have
some one with him to do some of the preaching. Lets all
attend these services and be benefited.
