Athens Weekly Review
April 3, 1913
Mill Run
It has been quite a while since we sent in our little
contribution. We have been trying to write to the Athens Review
and trying to quit for over twenty years and it seems that all I
ever wrote was of any benefit to any one. I would be glad that
all the
correspondents could meet in Athens and get acquainted and
discuss matters of would be interest to ourselves and to the
Review. We hope our editor will be up and at his office soon and
then we can storm him.
Well we have had some very cold weather and a great deal of corn
planted and some up but the freeze last week killed it together
with the peach crop all gone. Gardens were not seriously injured
and are doing very well. We will soon be living fat, vegetables
of all kinds, buttermilk, butter and the good ladies or the most
of them at least have canned fruit enough brought over from last
year to carry us over nearly the whole year. We have a very
backward spring and people seem a little blue but we should cheer
up and hope for the better.
We have had plenty of rain and the ground is in fine condition.
