One Hundred Present As Malakoff Lodge Holds Installation Jan 29, 1939

Approximately one hundred persons, including masons and members
of their families, attended the picnic Saturday evening at Malakoff
following the installation of the new officers of the Malakoff Masonic
lodge. New elective officers installed were: R. A. Anderson, Worshipful
Master; Roy I. Weir, Jr., Senior Warden; Frank Carpenter, Junior Warden;
and Jim Hunt Evans, Tiler.

Athens Masons attending the affair included Jack Owen, district deputy
Grand Master; A. R. Cox, Jackson Owen, George B. Thompson,
Representative James Spencer and Rufe Chipley. Jack Owen served
as installing officer.

George B. Thompson of Athens is one of the two living charter members
of the Malakoff lodge which was organized on December 14th , 1894.
Mr. Thompson gave a talk, reminiscing on the early activities of the
lodge. The other charter member of the lodge, Davis Pickens, was
unable to attend the installation meeting.
