J. A. Corder, a business man of LaRue, was in the city today.
He with others is running a restaurant, meat market and ice
house there. He says LaRue is building fast.
Mrs. J. O. Denton is loading her household goods preparatory to
moving to Brandon where Mr. Denton is station agent for the
Cotton Belt.
Mayor and Mrs. C. H. Coleman returned this morning form Chicago
where Mayor Coleman attended a meeting of the National
Association
Brick Manufacturers.
E. M. Henderson spent the day in Malakoff.
Resolution on the death of John K. Simmons are being published by
the
Howdy Martin Camp. The resolutions were prepared by L. A. Powers,
commander, W. T. Eustace and W. L. Faulk.
Lila Hart returned to Huntsville to resume her studies today.
William Riddlesperger was here from Malakoff today.
R. M. Cotton of Malakoff has announced his candidacy for
Commissioner
of Precinct No. 2.
Melon growers will attend a meeting here on March 23rd, according
to an
announcement made by Donan Matthews, special agent. The crop is
to
be marketed cooperatively.
R. H. Frizzell, C. D. Owen and Hugh Lucas attended the Masonic
meeting
at Malakoff last night.
Grandma Atwood who has been visiting her daughter in Oklahoma has
returned.
She had a stroke of paralysis abut Christmas. Her grandson,
Willie Reynolds,
went after her and brought her home. She is now with her
daughter, Mrs. John Reynolds.
Mrs. A. G. Andrews who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. C. H.
Hart has returned
to her home in Terrell, accompanied by Miss Allie Hart who will
visit in Dallas before
returning.
A new concrete sidewalk is being built in front of W. M. Gauntt's
store.
Mr. Gott, the fine looking manager of the Gott-Hawn-Sigler
Company, was visiting
in the country today.
Col. J. F. Gilmore was quite ill today with Lagrippe.
Judge Prince left today for Palestine to look after his candidacy
for district judge.
D. Y. Griffin went to Wanda to assist in organizing a water melon
growers association there.
H. W. Lucas is remodeling and adding another story to his house
the old Royall
place near the T. & N. O. depot and will have a first class
hotel building.
The J. J. Powers Drug Company is having extensive improvements
made on the
front of their building.
The little son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Richardson, who has had
a severe attack of
pneumonia is reported to be improving.
