Rev. Herndon filled his appointment at the Baptist Church during the week-end. He was accompanied by his wife and little daughter.

The death angel has visited in our community since our last report and claimed for its victim, Mr. R. A. Adair and "Aunt" Betty Barton. Funeral services for Mr. Adair were conducted on Thursday afternoon with Rev. Roy Gibbs of Chandler in charge, interment following in the local cemetery. He had been missing since Monday afternoon but his body was not discovered until Wednesday. Death was attributed to heart trouble. "Uncle" Real, as he was familiarly known, was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by everyone. A large number of relatives mourn his loss. He had long been a member of the Methodist Church.

Final rites for "Aunt Betty" Barton were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. Herndon, Rev. Curry and Elder Riddle in charge of the services. She was past 80 years of age and had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for over 50 years. "Aunt" Betty was indeed a noble character and leaves behind her a monument of virtue which the storms of time cannot destroy. She had long been in ill health and death has ended her suffering. May relatives, too numerous to mention, survive her. She was laid to rest in the local cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Burk of West Texas have been visiting friends and relatives here the past two weeks. Mr. Burk's brother, Luther Burk, also came with them for a brief stay.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilson of near Athens visited their daugher, Mrs. Frank Shiflet and family Saturday.

Miss Vivian Adair is visiting relatives at Cross Roads this week.

Ben Echols of Jefferson, La., was a visitor here last week. He is a former resident of this place.

Quite a number attended the Athens fair last week.

Mrs. Ezra Owen who has been ill for the past two weeks is showing but little improvement.
