Mr. and Mrs. George C. Keys Observes 67th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George C. Keys who live on a farm near New York and
LaRue, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary Sunday when
nearly one hundred members of the immediate family, and other
relatives and numerous friends gathered for the occasion. A brief
service was held in the farm home in which the couple has lived
more than half a century. Rev. R. E. Connell, pastor of the First
Methodist church of Athens, preaching a sermon appropriate for
the occasion. Mr. Keys has been a member of the church for 64
years.
Eleven children, 9 daughters and 2 sons of the couple were
present together with many grandchildren.
Rev. Charlie Young of Athens and Rev. George Fuller of LaRue,
were among the many vistors. B. C. Hall accompanied Rev. Connell.
The eleven children are: Lee Keys, LaRue; Mrs. F. B. Chapman,
LaRue; Mrs. N. A. Christopher, LaRue; Mrs. A. B. Chapman, LaRue;
Mrs. Charlie Young, Athens; Mrs. Albert Thornton, Malakoff; Mrs.
Delia Jones, Ben Wheeler; Mrs. G. H. Fuller and Mrs. Gus Walker,
LaRue; J. D. Keys; LaRue.
The children and members of their immediate families who were
present for the occasion Sunday are as follows:
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Keys, Murchison; Louise Keys and Tucker
Haralson, Kilgore; Mrs. Harley Hayes, Beryl Lee Hays, Marie Alton
and Mrs. M. A. Divon, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Keys, and Jewell and Howard Keys, all of
LaRue.
Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Chapman and Bruce Chapman of Murchison.
Miss Linnie Parker, Ella Parker and Mrs. Kathryn Dalton of LaRue.
Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Christopher, Ola Christopher and True
Christopher, all of LaRue.

Mrs. Mary Frances Speer of Brownsboro, a sister of Mr. Keys, was
