July 28, 1910 John Hunt Arrested SPECIAL TO THE NEWS Athens, Tex., July 27-- Sheriff John W Wood has placed John Hunt, colored in the Athens jail for safe keeping. He is charged with killing his wife by shooting her to death at Brownsboro Monday evening. Hunt shot at the officers when they went to arrest him. The officers returned the fire and shot him in the hand, when he broke to run, and was shot in the back with a load of small shot, which caused him to round to and surrender and accompany officers to jail, where he will remain till court convenes in September.
